Hi Stagers, I was able to see Paul in the Rehab facility. He’s doing well but it’s going to take some time for healing.
He bumped his noggin pretty good. He won’t be online for a while but he is certainly looking forward to it.
I know he considers every one of you his friend and misses you all…… as long as you stay off his lawn! 😂
I would like to use chit chat (this thread) for you to reach out to him for well wishes and any thoughts of harassment! 😊 He’d like that as there was no shortage of banter between Spirit27 and the rest of you crazies!

So a couple thoughts.

Use this thread to comment and I will print them and get them to him.

If you have anything personal you’d like to say, PM me and I will get them to him.

And lastly, Paul would love to have (and needs) visitors. If you are NorCal, Bay Area, Sacramento Valley or Roseville, Auburn, Folsom area please consider visiting.
If you would like to visit, PM me and I will give you the address and room number.

Wish I could have made it. So glad that everyone had a good time! It's the just getting together and meeting new friends that makes a difference. Getting together once year sounds great. I had surgery last week (nothing major) but I'll try to make any and all in the future.

Thanks for responding fly Guy. Actually, I was asking if you think a guide should fish with you while you are fishing. The question I was asked is why are they fishing, when you pay them to guide you.

Fishmanj- I don't mind a guide fishing if he is a good fisherman and it doesn't take away from his guiding. If he is paying more attention to his rod than yours and whoever your with, tell him to stop and find another guide.

Saw- I'm in any day any time. Just give me some advanced notice. Would also prefer the Sacto. area.

Wait until about March. The Stripers will start showing up in numbers in the Freeport area.

I'm interested in fishing on the Sacramento River around the city of Sacramento. Any suggestions about where, what to fish for, and what methods and baits will yield best results?
Thanks.

Howdy! I live in the Sacramento area. The Sacto. River, around Sacramento has a lot of species: Salmon and Stripers being the most predominate. Not much of anything is going on right now. The late fall Salmon run is pretty much over and Stripers haven't gotten up here yet. Look for spring run Stripers starting about March and peaking in May in our area. The fall run is about from Sept. to Nov.. Fall Salmon season begins in mid-August and peaks in October. Trolling for both Salmon and Steelhead is one way, bait fishing with Anchovies or Sardines for Stripers is another. If your trolling try a broken back Rebel for Stripers and Kwik fish with a Sardine or Crawdad tail wrap for Salmon. I almost forgot, Small and Large mouth Bass are great to fish for along the rip rap. Either use various Bass lures or if you fly fish, chartreus streamers can be great. I can't really tell you where to go. It really depends on river conditions, time of year, etc. I'm not sure how to do a private message on the Stage. If you do, send me one and we can exchange phone #s. to talk more and maybe arrange a fishing trip!

Hardly any mention of Steelhead and Salmon. They are my favorites here in No. Calif. and So. Oregon!

Hi Jim- Sorry I can't help you on lake fishing up your way. I love to come up to your country for Steelhead. Since you live in Medford, you are probably familiar with the Umpqua River near Roseberg. I fish it for Steelhead and Smallmouth Bass. The Bass fishing can be excellent in the Summer. Give it a try if you haven't already!
