Don’t know about best but here in Milwaukee there is a method of pre-cooking (boil) in beer with sliced onion. Then put them on the grill to finish them. Add a little kraut and you’re good to go.
Hey. Launch at the metro ramp or at Bay Shore Park. Troll crawler harnesses or flicker shad. University Bay or Point Vincent. East side has been more productive lately. There is usually a fleet out, go where they are.

HI All, I'm trying to learn more about fishing. Where to, What to use for certain types of fish and times of year to use them. I know I'm asking a lot and I also know that this will take some time.
in a couple of weeks my loving wife and I are heading to Fence Lake in Wisconsin. I have had good luck with Northerns and smallmouth but it was all luck. Just happen to be at the right place at the right time. I know that's most of the time but if I could get a little more help it might make it easier then just floating around hoping and praying for a good spot.
Ok I've rambled on long enough. Looking forward to hearing from any of you.
God Bless and good fishing

Fence is a huge lake as you know and is connected to other lakes in a chain. I guess I’d decide what species I wanted to target. The Hot Spots map points out some spots by species and the narrative describes time of year. There are trophy musky in Fence and sept is a good time to focus on them. If in your means it’s cool to sign up a guide for early in your stay to show you spots and recommend baits. Jake Smith from Smitty Lures out of Minocqua is a good one. The Musky Shop in Minocqua has a stable of guides you could consider.
[depending on water temps and time of day. For musky, topwaters over shallow weed beds, deep diving cranks for deep weed edges, bucktails ( my go to is black and orange) quote=kimosabej]Hi All,
I am taking Mom fishing to Big St Germain to try for some game fish (Walleye, Pike, Musky, Bass) for awhile and then for pan fish. She moved to Minocqua recently and I am just visiting. So I am looking for some ideas on how to tackle (ha ha) this lake. I see from the maps that there are many submerged bars with weed edges. Any feeedback would be great.
best,

Kangaroo Lake. Thought I posted the pic
Don’t know if you have a boat. Lots of people fish off the causeway in Kangaroo Lake. We have a boat, we found a nice weed bed 100- 125 feet out from the middle power pole on the causeway. Granddaughter caught a chunky 18” smallmouth there, using crawlers. Only contacted small perch. There is a mile long weed bed down the middle of the main lake basin south of the island. Didn’t get to fish it much, it was blowing pretty hard by the time I found it. The lake is mostly shallow4-6’ deep, rocky bottom so potential prop buster. Saw people fishing the rock bars. None of them are marked. Hope this helps.
I’m actually going up to a place on Kangaroo for the week, tomorrow. I’ll let you know what I find.
There is shore access at the boat launch area on the west end of Pewaukee where I always see people fishing. There is a boat rental place on the south end of Lake Beulah, Jon boats and pontoons. I bet there is a place for rentals on Pewaukee but I’d have to research that. Okachee has place that delivers rentals to the launch.
Never had much luck in wind lake. Lake Beulah in the same direction gives up decent gills. Parking there is a bother, no parking at the launch site, parking is up the hill.
2really good lakes if you can go during the week. Both lakes hold trophy Muskie. Nagawikcka has bass and northern.
You could call Smokey’s bait shop or Dick Smiths to check on the Waukesha county lakes, or The fishing Hole if you’re looking at L Michigan
They are a go to for walleye on Green Bay. Assorted colors and both sizes produce.
Kings are in right now. Caught mostly trolling spoons. Have to find the right depth. Hang around the boat launches, either bender park in Oak Creek, or South Shore Park in Bay View. Ask the fishers coming in about depth, time of day etc. Most are very accommodating.
Cave Point is on the Lake Michigan side of Door County. Makes your pic a sunrise.
