HI All, I'm trying to learn more about fishing. Where to, What to use for certain types of fish and times of year to use them. I know I'm asking a lot and I also know that this will take some time.
in a couple of weeks my loving wife and I are heading to Fence Lake in Wisconsin. I have had good luck with Northerns and smallmouth but it was all luck. Just happen to be at the right place at the right time. I know that's most of the time but if I could get a little more help it might make it easier then just floating around hoping and praying for a good spot.
Ok I've rambled on long enough. Looking forward to hearing from any of you.
God Bless and good fishing

Not familiar with the lake, but your best bet is to check with the local bait shops to see what is working. Lake Link may help, or the latest WI Outdoor News. Worst case, find a weed edge close to a drop off to deep water and start there early or late. Minnows, leeches and crawlers below slip bobbers will catch fish. Good luck!

Fence is a huge lake as you know and is connected to other lakes in a chain. I guess I’d decide what species I wanted to target. The Hot Spots map points out some spots by species and the narrative describes time of year. There are trophy musky in Fence and sept is a good time to focus on them. If in your means it’s cool to sign up a guide for early in your stay to show you spots and recommend baits. Jake Smith from Smitty Lures out of Minocqua is a good one. The Musky Shop in Minocqua has a stable of guides you could consider.
