Went out with family and friends on two pontoon boats at June lake on 6/11.... 12 guys only 4 small trout caught.... the dtate needs to fix their hachery issues and plant some fish... beautiful lake and town... just poor fishing... all the trout were hanhing out under the docks... which you can't fish...bummer.

I've fished June lake and as beautiful as it is i have done better a Bridgeport that's where the state record trout come from at twin lakes and the reservoir is good. Call Kens at Bridgeport and ask for a report they will give it to you straight.

HI Bill,

There has to be a closer place, 100 miles is a bit too far to go fishing, was hoping for something closer. The price of gas and my car I would have to spend 100 dollars to get there and back! A dollar for every mile!
Do you know of closer places to go? Maybe in the Tehachapi, Lancaster, or Palmdale area?

Thank you :-)

try lake isabella you can camp on the lake like i do and fish from the shore or boat

Hello everyone,

I’m new to the site. I love to fish but afraid of worms. I don’t like anything that crawls. Any suggestions on how to get over that fear? Besides that, it looks gross to me. I also would love to catch crappies, but so far have not been successful. I live in Southern California, I frequent castaic lake, lake Isabella and a newly found lake that I went to last week which is called buena vista lake in Bakersfield. But, still no crappies. I used live minnows. I’m not an experience fishing person. So, I hope to learn a lot of this site. Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Hello: New member here, Dennis,. Looking for information on crappie fishing at Lake Isabella. Never been there but excited to check out. Has the spawn started yet, what is current water temp, what are fees for day use and lake use hours?
thanks.

Hello Dennis was at Isabella yesterday the wind blew all day so i didn't take the boat out didn't see many fish being caught. You have to have a kern county boat permit and a mussel stamp. No fees that i can think of to fish the lake day or night many people stay a the shore line for days and fish check with bobs bait bucket or Cope's for fishing up dates hopes that helps
