Hello: New member here, Dennis,. Looking for information on crappie fishing at Lake Isabella. Never been there but excited to check out. Has the spawn started yet, what is current water temp, what are fees for day use and lake use hours?
thanks.

Hello Dennis Grace:; you have come to the right place, The Fishing Forum has over 60,000 members, that is a lot of experience, wisdom, and yes even a ration of B.S.

It would help a lot if you would go back to your profile and add where you are from, and if you fish from a boat or shore.

I am not familiar with Lake Isabella. Hopefully there are members who are there and can jump in and help. Just Sayin...RJS

Welcome to the Stage Dennis, I've got no idea where Lake Isabella is. Since we are coast to coast, and international, please take RJ's advice and put a location in your profile. Good Luck and Tight Lines.

There's probably about a dozen or more around the country, Shaun. Looks like another one and done.

If it's Lake Isabella in Kern County, I've never fished it. But I was on the Erskine Fire there several years ago. We were miserable. Hot, and extremely windy, a lot of sage brush. I'll never go there again!

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at Lake Isabella. I was born and raised there, absolutely love it great place to get away. The lower and upper rivers are great for fishing and the lake gives you lots of places to fish on shore or go out on a boat! You should give it another chance, this time you experience it in a visitor way not a firefighter way.

Thanks 44,
It was a very short and localized experience. Didn't get a chance to enjoy the area.

The lake is low , holding at 12% capacity, Crappie are beginning hit , brushy and rocky outcrops ,launch fees 4-6$ ,gets windy in the afternoon , good luck & tightlines, (Lake Isabella , east of Bakersfield Ca., fed by Kern River)

Hello Dennis was at Isabella yesterday the wind blew all day so i didn't take the boat out didn't see many fish being caught. You have to have a kern county boat permit and a mussel stamp. No fees that i can think of to fish the lake day or night many people stay a the shore line for days and fish check with bobs bait bucket or Cope's for fishing up dates hopes that helps

I live about 60 miles from Lake Isabella and have fished it many times. With the water low lots of dead trees in the water. After the spawn crappies can be had around those trees. The annual trout derby is soon and most will be fishing for them. Good luck
