I fish out of conneaut Ohio and attest to the walleye in lake. Perch are scattered but will come back together.

Walleye or perch or any pan fish ,recipe
Egg wash= couple eggs some milk, some beer. Beat with fork
Leave in bowl
Italian seasoned bread crumbs , any kind as long as seasoned.
Place seasoning in bowl.
Place fish filet in egg wash coat both sides good. Place in bread crumbs. Both sides good in crumbs. Place in fryer.
Deep fry in coconut oil at 350 degrees till lightly brown.
Drain on plate with paper towel to get rid of excess oil.
Wallla.
Can do most any food like this.
I must add that jigs also are effective with trout, carp, crappie , and most fresh water fish.

I donot know much about that area on Lake Michigan or lake st Marie but I would have to say you need a boat to catch the aftformentioned fish.
One quick point,no pon, a off set shank hook will turn in the fishes mouth for easy hook set as compared to a straight shaft hook.
Have to check if long saft hooks are off set at shaft
