I've fished my entire 30 years on this planet, and in the last 11 years I haven't caught a single one. Help.

So this is actually true... I live in Montana and we generally are fishing for trout in a lake. When I was a kid I would catch fish quite often, but I can't remember catching a fish since the time I was around 19. This isn't a joke, I fish quite a bit because I love to just be outdoors and on or around water, and that's all I chalk up fishing up to for me the past few days. When I say I'm going fishing, all that means in my mind is I'm going to sit in my boat and enjoy the sunshine and put a string in the water for no reason. I've tried every kind of bait, every kind of hook, and advice from hundreds of people who claim to be a expert. Nothing. Trolling, casting, doesn't matter... The fish exist, last weekend I was fishing from shore near a kid who I watched pull 5 or so fish from the lake in about a hour... At one point I yelled over and asked what he was using, he said just a worm on a hook... Me too kid, me too. True story, me and my wife were fishing one day at the river, she had caught a few fish, me nothing... At the end of the night she threw her empty hook in the water to clean it off, and cought another fish.

It has me confused and I would like to end this cycle this year and somehow catch a fish... Maybe someone on here can teach me something I haven't heard before.

This is true with me. Everytime I fish from the bank, prop fishing rod & reel in a forked stick and leave it. Every time I would leave the combo, go get more bait or check the other rod & reel not too far away, and would see my whole fishing outfit go in the water, (probably a catfish or carp). This has happened to me 5 or 6 times. I couldn't make it back in time to grab the outfit. Kinda funny if you think about it. That fish dragging my outfit around in the lake.

Exploring A CRAZY Japanese Tackle Shop.

While exploring Japan, I go exploring a crazy Japanese tackle shop. This Japanese fishing store features many pieces of fishing gear and techniques that I've never seen before.

Come along for my exploration through Okinawa, Japan and the awesome things they have to offer here. Fishing in Japan may be one of the industries' best kept secrets.

Does it have the prices in American Dollars? Don't think I'll ever go to Japan and try to not even buy anything made in Japan. My Dad fought in WW2 & he wrote & told my Mother to get rid of everything made in Japan.

I never wanted to be bothered with kids while I'm trying to fish. (Don't have any grandchildren). You don't really get to fish but have to help them baiting & taking their fish off. Bah humbug

I try to check out the fishing digest every day, but have been busy trying to find a fishing combo for my daughter.s boyfriend. I found one on Rural King which was $20.00 cheaper than other sites, --- but had to pay shipping. Seems like they quit free shipping on any amount you spend right now.

That's a rude doctor. I've been to some of them.

In this dream I am in either a hardware store or a sporting goods store. I am talking to a salesman who is showing me a new fishing bait he says is a sensation. He is holding a zip lock plastic bag which appears to have a plastic worm about 12 inches long inside.

After a few minutes of sales patter about how phenomenal this bait is and how it will attract fish the salesman opens the bag. Immediately, this worm shoots out of the bag and flies away zig zagging down the aisle. I and other shoppers standing nearby are amazed, with our mouths open but speechless.

Not only can this plastic worm that is dark purple in color and about 12 inches long fly, but it has demonstrated it can allude the capture of another store clerk who was trying to grab it in midair! Now, I hadn’t really come in to purchase a flying worm but was immediately captivated by this demonstration. “How much is that flying worm?” It is $10.00. “Well, I will take 3!”

However, I don’t know if it will be a good lure, or not. I am not sure a fish can swim fast enough to capture it. Since on one had yet caught the one loose in the store. Nor only did this miracle worm fly or glide smoothly under its own power, when the clerk tried to capture it, it would immediately go into more extreme evasive maneuvers to escape capture!

So, the clerk rang up my purchase and carefully placed three of these worms in their plastic zip lock bags into a larger shopping bag. I could hardly wait to try one out at the lake where there were both black bass and striped bass. I planned to rig it up on a Texas rig before allowing it out of my control, knowing how elusive they could be. Stay tuned for my future reports of this unusual and amazing fishing lure.

However, I feel sure they will bite, you did! Just Sayin…RJS

I was getting ready to say I'd like to order one of those & checked your post again and you said "in my dream". That would be a good lure to try though.

We were born to mothers who may have smoked,or drank when they were pregnant
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, ate tuna from the can,and weren't tested for diabetes
but we survived
Then after all that trauma,we were put to sleep on our tummies,in cribs painted with lead paint.
We had no child proof lids on medicine bottles, nor locks on doors.
When we rode our bikes we wore baseball caps--not helmets.
We rode in cars with no car seats ,no seat belts,no air bags, bald tires, and some times even no brakes.
Riding in the back of a pickup was a special treat
But we survived
We drank water from the garden hose(not from a sanitized bottle)
We shared a soda pop with two or three friends--no one got sick
We ate cup cakes,white bread,real butter,and bacon
We drank cool aid with real sugar--and we didn't gain weight!-Why?
Because we were always outside romping and playing, cowboys and indians,or jumping rope,or hide and seek
And we survived
We would go off and play all day,and as long as we were home before dark,no one worried.
We spent hours building go carts from scrap lumber, rode them down hills, only to find out that we forgot to add brakes.
But we survived
WE didn't have Play Stations,Nintendos or X Boxes,no video games,no ear phones,no TV,no cell phones,no computers,no internet and no chat rooms.
But we had lots of friends, and we went outside and found them.
WE fell out of trees, jumped off garage roofs got sprains and sometimes broken bones--and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.
We got spanked with belts, paddles, switches and even bare hands--but no one called child services to report abuse.
And we survived
We ate worms and mud pies, and the worms didn't (in spite of what we were told) live inside of us forever.
We were given bbguns on our 9th birthdays, and we didn't put out too many eyes ,when we played War.
But we survived
WE rode our bikes or walked to our friends house and either knocked on the door or just walked in and talked to them.
We had Little League tryouts, and not every boy made a team. Those who weren't selected had to learn to live with disappointment--Imagine that!!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of.Our parents sided with the law.

These generations produced some of the best problem solvers and inventors ever.
And the past 60 to 85 years have seen an explosion of innovation and new ideas
Our generations had freedom, success, and responsibility, and we dealt with it all.
If you are one of those born between 1920 and 1950--Congratulations!!!
You might want to share this with others who had the good fortune to be kids before the do gooders and the government regulated so much of our lives.
While you are at it,show it to your grand kids and great grand kids,so they will know how brave and how lucky were their forebears
WE survived!!!

So I have been fishing since I was 12. Ive always used spinning rods when bass fishing. I recently bought a baitcaster to learn on and its just so frustrating. Ive watched a couple videos and I understand a little on how to adjust the reel to the wait of your lure but I still get backlash and it just ends my day fishing with me cutting all my line off and then using my spinning rod. I see how the baitcaster are useful and I would like to get it down and add it to my fishing arsenal. Any tips or anything for a beginner?

Selling My Stuff.

I’m posting this with a heavy heart... I've thought long and hard. As much as I love all my fishing equipment and fishing, it just takes up too much of my time at this point in my life with everything else going on.

Between work and trying to fish, I’m struggling to keep up with the everyday basics like maintaining the house and projects and yard work... etc..

I just came to the realization that I can't do this juggling act anymore. I am going to sell. I can re-buy when things change. This stuff will always be there when I'm ready again.

Below is a list of what's available.

Anyone who knows me, knows I keep my stuff really nice.

Make me a reasonable offer guys. Thanks.

1. Dustpan and broom
2. Sponges
3. Shovels
4. Mop and bucket
5. Drywall patch
6. Paint can opener & brushes
7. Pesticide
8. Weed killer
9. Wheel barrel
10. 5 gallon buckets
11. Ladder
12. Hoses
13. Pick axe

BAD DAY OF FISHING AND SHOOTING IS A BETTER DAY THAN WORKING.
