I have a question about drag on fishing reels. If i had a reel with a max drag of 20 pound but i had hooked a fish that was 30 pounds would i be able to reel it in? i’m assuming not and if not then wou i just have to hand line it?

I noticed that my round white and red fishing bobber would float upside down with the red side facing up. I seem to be hooking it to the line correctly. Anybody else would know why?

My hands broke out this past season after fishing a body of water, was just wondering if this is why you wear them?

Is a 7 weight not enough? Also totally newer to this and not sure if this is the best way to target them here, but it sure looks fun!

Hey everyone! My rod is too big to take in the car with more than 1 passenger and I'm a bit tired of derigging the line to split it up. I've tried pulling it apart and leaving the line sinker and hook on but the line tangles up like a mfer or the line comes off the reel. Does anyone have any tips for how to transport with out causing a 10 minute pain the butt when you put it back together?

It's going to be in the high 40's for the next few days, any advice to catch em in the cold? The 3 common types at my local lake are bass, gars and catfish. Could I set a dead shad on a hook and let it sink to the bottom and wait?

I wanna fish the river because it's the closest fishing spot to me, but I constantly get my lures caught on rocks.

I mostly fish for pike, walleye and smallies. I prefer braid over mono (haven’t tried a full spool of flouro yet). I’m new to baitcasting and I was thinking of spooling up my new baitcaster with a 20-30 lb round braid with the thought that it will help avoid backlashes. Would sticking to mono like 12lb Big Game be better? Any advice?

I'm not looking at a particular model, I'm just shopping for some rods and I wonder if there is a big difference between the two sizes.

I wanna start fishing or at least casting again. I have many rods/reels but they haven't been used for decades. Most of them I inherited from my dad so I'd love to clean/fix if possible. Appreciate any suggestions.

I recently bought a trout magnet kit after buying a new trout setup. After researching how to effectively use this lure I saw many people use a fluorocarbon leader with it. Is this absolutely necessary? I have 4lb mono spooled up and I'm wondering if that will do fine without the leader. Thanks in advance!

I’ve typically have been bringing two rods with me. I fish inshore on the gulf. One is a bait caster, best for spoons and lures. I have another spinning set up I’ll mainly use lighter lures on or if I’m using live bait.

I try to stick with just artificial since I think it’s more satisfying but I’ve been messing around with brining 4 rods. One for bait fish and other for fishing with the bait fish.

Currently it’s not the most ideal. Granted I’m using a super heavy, old 8’ salmon rod with a 5000 series reel for this soaking rod. I dig the reel even though it’s a bit overkill for inshore, I like having a heavy set up in case I see some tarpon.

I like the idea of rocking 4 rods but idk it was getting a little crazy. I don’t have one of those crates with the rod holders and idk if I will. I currently have a vibe shearwater, I have two extra rod holders I mainly use with my two main rods.

I don’t have a pedal drive so I don’t like my rod holders in front of me. Once I do get a drive, I think rocking more rods will be easier.

But what do you guys like to go out with? Do you think it’s worth it to get a third nicer rod? (Answer for that is always yes haha but would it make sense)

I’m thinking my third rod is mostly for trolling swim baits or just for swim baits in general. Really dig daiwa or dobyns

Hey all, I’m interested in making the shift to circle hooks after reading how high mortality rates are for catch-and-release fish. The issue I’m encountering is my bait easily falls off the circle hooks I’ve tried. Are there any baitholder circle hooks out there? It seems like a relatively simple concept but I’m having a hard time finding any.

(Also if you have recommendations for general circle hooks I should buy please let me know! I want some good quality hooks in sizes #8 - 2/0)
