Fly fishing: What weight rod would you recommend for PNW steelhead?

Is a 7 weight not enough? Also totally newer to this and not sure if this is the best way to target them here, but it sure looks fun!

You can use a 7wt I just bought a new Spey rod a 8wt I’m also new to heavy Flyfishing I’m going after salmon and steal heads also

Yes a 8wt and it’s a Spey rod a Echo TR with a Echo Bravo reel 8-10wt

My son and I own Clearwater River Company LLC. Single hand fly rods should be at least a 9 wt. Spey rods can be 8 wt. but 9-10 is recommended. It’s not that you can’t land bigger fish on lesser weighted rods, it’s that you end up exhausting native fish that need to be released. Plus, you simply can’t land some of the bigger fish.
