I mostly fish for pike, walleye and smallies. I prefer braid over mono (haven’t tried a full spool of flouro yet). I’m new to baitcasting and I was thinking of spooling up my new baitcaster with a 20-30 lb round braid with the thought that it will help avoid backlashes. Would sticking to mono like 12lb Big Game be better? Any advice?

4 strand braid for fishing vegetation (will cut thru grass better) 9 strand for everything else.
832 braid 30lb. chartreuse on nearly all my rigs except specialty rigs like halibut rods, both fresh and salt
Im seeing the date on some of the posts. But, remember to use mono backer. Put some on first to cut down backlashes, they say, save some money on braid.
