Thanks again everyone. It was a great day. I had bald eagles flying right over my head. I believe they were fishing too.

FD, a bad day fishing is better than a good day doing anything else. Get them next time and it's special to have the eagles. Mike

I like to introduce myself to you guys. My name is Fred (Fritz) Menage and I live in Edgewater, Maryland near our state capitol, Annapolis on the Chesapeake Bay. I have been a lifelong fishing nut and have fished the bay and it's tributaries all my life. I also like to fish the Atlantic Ocean and inshore Florida waters. I have been the past Secretary of the Annapolis Chapter of (MSSA) Maryland Saltwater Sportfishing Association and I am currently Director of Public Relations for the Pasadena Sportfishing Group and a current member of Annapolis Anglers Club. I have entered this photograph of a striped bass that I caught to be considered for the Fish Talk Magazine September Cover issue. I'll need your support and vote at 'fishtalkmag.com/2020-cover-contest' in order to win this contest. I hope that I can have your support. The voting runs from August 4-10, 2020.

Hi Fred, I lived in Edgewater for 3 years back in the early 70's. Use to race frost bite and ocean going sailboats. Funny, I can't remember the name of the bar and lived in the first house behind it and bar tended there for awhile. Is Marmadukes still there? Is Sam's still on the quay and can you still drink beer outside within the yellow lines?

Any way, nice fish and tight lines. Mike Chesapeake, Va.

wondering and hoping all are safe. It's just arriving here in North Jersey now.

We were lucky here in Chesapeake, Va. just north of the N. Carolina line. Were out of power for about 12 hrs. and I couldn't get the generator started but we did ok. No damage to my yard or abode but others weren't so lucky. Tornados killed a few people in N. Carolina. Good luck to you guys north, it sounds like y'all aren't faring as well as we did.

Hey Bellhaven, how'd you make out? Mike

A little warm out there this morning so I went on over to a shaded area and this guy was waiting for my net.

I had readings fluctuate between 101* and 103* Monday and Tuesday. It was just stinking hot. 10* cooler today with a nice breeze. Mike

Using federal officers reminds me of what I have read about the nazis. Not good for our nation.

By preventing people to run rampant through out our nation, burning down small business', who by the way are the backbone of our economy, trying to burn down our Federal Court houses, who are targeting Police and civilians, who want to destroy this Country as it was established that has grown into the very best Nation to be a privilege to live in. Well then Frank romero, you can call me a nazi. Mike

In 2004 we built a house for our retirement, everything is handicapped accessible, 3200 sq. ft., on 3 acres in the woods, 2 miles from town on a township road, with one neighbor who watches the house when we go South for the Winter. We have a large deck in the back to watch the birds on, a front porch, a large agregate patio coming out from our party room. The patio over looks two ponds that cascade over a water fall into a bigger pond. (Only goldfish in the pond.) A triple garage, and a 30 x 30 shed to keep the toys in. We have Geo-thermal heat and all floors are heated. It cost very little to heat or cool. Flowers & and shrubs all over the place with many 16 y/o trees, a raised garden, a ground garden, rashberry bushes, blackberry bushes and a couple of apple trees. We are getting older, and needless to say, this place is a lot of work to take care of. I work 2 days a week for the DNR, last year, the other 5 days are spent weeding, mowing, trimming and general maintenace. I call it my physical fitness program. I can still do it, but 5 years from now, IDK, as we are 77 y/o. A condo isn't the answer, I have too many toys that I like to use, same as a lot in town, I would need 4 lots and build new to have everything that I wanted. We don't want to start new with everything, we hve what we want right now.

We could sell this place in a heart beat, like the other two that we built, but what do we replace it with?
I'm sure some of you people have been in the same situation. What did you do and was it the right decision? Help me out, this is a tough decission to make. Your input will be appreciated.

Have you thought about a rental unit for the toys and extras and then a condo. That would free up those 5 days but what would you do for exercise? Mike

Use a shredded piece of rope. You don't need a hook, in fact their mouths as soo tough it's hard to get a hook to set unless you're jug fishing and they swallow the bait. The shredded rope will get caught in their teeth and you can reel them in. Mike

We will be visiting Rockaway Beach on August 6 & 7th. We would like to do some ocean fishing while we are there. What are some good reasonable fishing charters to use and what it’s the fishing report like? Thank you for your help!

Are you going to Rockaway Beach OR or MO? I just googled Rockaway Beach and typed in behind it fishing charters. Try it it works. Mike

I currently live about 5 miles (as the crow flies) from Hill Air Force Base where they work on fighter jets for the Air Force. Had to quit thinking about what might happen one day - prime target.
Just go fishing.

I live in Chesapeake, Va. A stones throw from the largest Naval Base in the world, surrounded on almost all sides by Army, Marine, Coast Guard and Seal Team facilities. Me worry? No way, I'll be a red mist before I'd hear a thing. Felt the same way when hauling munitions to Nam. If the ship was to go up with 80,000 tons of HE aboard, none of us would feel a thing. Mike

Legend has it that the United States Marine Corps was born on 10 November, 1775, at Tun Tavern, in Philidelphia, Pennsylvania. On that day, the Continental Congress passed a resolution authorizing two battalions of Continental Marines. The resolution was sponsored by John Adams. Since 1921, the Corps has celebrated its birthday as 10 November.

Tun Tavern was a popular meeting place of 18th century Philadelphians. The tavern was frequented by sailors and other seafaring men, so it was a logical place to conduct the business of recruiting."

What follows was related to me by a Master Gunnery Sergeant:

When the Navy officers set up a table in the Tun Tavern and started interviewing prospects, they were a bit relieved to finally find a young man who fit their requirements. They had him sign the book, paid him his dollar, and bought a round of rum to toast the enlistment. They were so happy to finally get the whole process underway, they even had a second round. They then send him off to a table in the corner to wait.

After a few more interviews, they found a second recruit, who soon joined the first.

"This is great," the second recruit said. "They paid me right away, and even bought me a tot of rum!"

"Hunh, Boot." sneered the first. "In the Old Corps they bought us two."

If it had been a Navy sea story it would have begun with, "This is no s*%t now". Mike
