these slimy cats found my bait fish no matter were I cast my line all night grrrrr! They are so lucky that they are one of the few fish I'm not interested in eating lol. but if u like them, there are tons off the rocky side of the causeway at the moment.
that must have been a fun catch. my smoker would love me if I could pull one of those out of the gulf in my area of florida someday :).
cloudy morning but didn't go home empty handed :). shrimp under the last bridge seems to always hook something.
anna maria island bridge. I had fun pulling a few sheepshead from the mainland side a few weeks ago. heading a lil farther north, my 2 fave spots are fort desoto pier and the bridge going onto honeymoon island (great spot for large spanish mackerels when they came through a couple months ago :). The wife and I are in Zephyrhills and have been trying spots from sarasota to homossasa over the last year and the only spot I haven't liked was Skyway bridge (to busy). If your ever looking for someone to toss a line with, just let us know. Best o luck n keep them lines tight :).
ya, pasco county is cr on them to, not that it matters if I can't find them lol. I plan to be well practiced on a cast net b4 next year's mullet run :).
I pulled 2 out of the Hillsborough in green swamp reserve last week with a green and brown "frog" with really short twitches and 4 or 5 second float time in-between. was honestly my first success in freshwater here out of 5 tries and neither bass was over 10inches. I'm preferring the piers on the gulf personally so far :). good luck n keep casting
thanx joecat. I've launched from the park outside new port a cpl times and came home with a bucket of snapper n let go some nasty catfish but can't seem to find the spot or technique to get the trout's I would love out of there.
thanx Gordon, I would have to say a bit of both lol. Able Man, I'm in Zephyrhills bout 40 min from tampa but hit the gulf at least once a week. I'm told the mullet runs aren't what they used to be but I'm excited to learn how to use a cast net on them soon. I have a inflatable fishing kayak but so far have done better on the rocks n piers just tossing shrimp around structures but I would love to make a boat friend to hit the holes a bit further out :).
A lot of interesting things on this site. Excited to learn more and share what I know, catch and eat. Would love to hear from any pier or beach fishers in the Tampa Bay area (no boat Yet). New to Florida but loving the fishing!
