I am an independent insurance agent with most of our auto insurance written through Travelers, Progressive and Hartford/AARP. So far:
Travelers announced it is giving U.S. personal auto insurance customers a 15% credit on their April and May premiums through its new Stay-at-Home Auto Premium Credit Program. The company will automatically credit customers’ accounts.
Progressive personal auto customers who have a policy in force as of April 30th will be credited 20% of their April premiums in May and personal auto customers with a policy in force as of May 31st will be credited 20% of their May premiums in June.
We are expecting Hartford to announce shortly.
Note – this is not a permanent rate reduction. You should reach out to your company for the details of their program. You will probably need to pay your regular amount and then the company will apply the credit.

I just read where Florida governor Desantis finally issued a stay at home order - with exceptions for essential services - including religious services in houses of worship.

“It’s another 30-day situation,” DeSantis said. “And we’ve got to do what makes sense.”

Well, it doesn't make sense. Desantis needs a history lesson.

The first wave of the 1918 pandemic occurred in the spring and was generally mild.
With no antibiotics and not understanding what they were dealing with,

people went to church and prayed – large gatherings that further spread the flu.

The second wave of the flu hit with a vengeance in the fall of that same year. Victims died within hours or days of developing symptoms, their skin turning blue and their lungs filling with fluid that caused them to suffocate.

At this point, our leaders have to make prudent and responsible decisions. not play politics. These are some of the same people who discounted the science of global warming that are now ignoring the science of biology. There is no quick fix, this is a marathon. History tells us a partial 30 day shutdown is inadequate. Our hope is that containment by means of long term shutdown will minimize deaths and buy us time until a vaccine is developed. THAT MEANS NO LARGE GATHERINGS - FOR ANY REASON

I truly respect all of you in the health care field - doctors, nurses & support staff - you are soldiers in the line of fire - putting your own well being on the line. Previously, I didn't realize your risk you take. The whistle blowing Chinese doctor who died was the eye opener for me. I pray for for you and wish you the best during these trying times.
