One of the best lakes to fish in Texas is Lake Fork near you. The bass there are usually huge ! use topwater lures and creature baits and plastics.

Biggest concern is not wildlife, biggest concern is drowning ! If you don't know how to swim yet ,don't go wade fishing !

Best advise I can give you is to learn how to swim. Its really not that difficult to learn and it could save your life and not just when your fishing. As for the wildlife you just have to be carefull, as plumbob said you are no longer the apex predator in the wild. Unless you have a gun of course.

No. 1 is know your body of water. Depth, Temp. time of year, baitfish available to the bass in your area. and watch a lot of U-tube. You learn the most from other bass fisherman who have been doing it for years.

I had been looking to get a new fish finder for my small boat. Seen some where the transducer is mounted to the bottom of the trolling motor. Won't this cause issues with interference of the sonar ? Some have said it will cause false signals and interference with depth readings also. Can anyone help who has had their transducer mounted to the bottom of trolling motor.

Not in Texas they aren't. You can use goldfish, they even sell em in bait shops. We use mostly live minnows because that's what they feed on the most. You can also use worms or nightcrawlers as some people call them.

The bluegill and or sun perch you use for bait should allways be caught from the same body of water you are fishing for bass from.

You basically just repeated the same thing my son and I did about two weeks ago at our local lake. We had been throwing everything at them, plastics, topwater, jigs, crankbaits I mean everything. My son finally said I'm gonna fish for some perch. He did and started catching small bluegill perch. He said hey I wonder if these small ones could be used for bait ? I hooked one up and caught a 4 lbs bass. We repeated this process 6 times and caught 6 bass the largest one being 5 1/2 lbs ! I told my son well I know where we are gonna get out bait from now on ! It is legal in most states to use blugill or redear perch for bait.

I have a 10 ft. Jon boat and a 45 lbs. trolling motor and it works great. I carry two batteries, my son , and a ton of fishing gear and I never have any problems. If one of my batteries runs low we hook up the other one. On days where there might be bad weather I wont get too far away from the boat ramp in case it storms. But other than that it works great and I have no problems.
