Took granddaughter out to local lake today
Winds 15 mph sustained. Not ideal but manageable.
Went to first spot I thought post spawn crappie would be. 8 boats on my spot. Lots of guys trolling.
Didn’t want to spot lock in guys trolling paths so we moved from secondary spot.
Estimated 400 boats on lake today plus jet skis.
Some of these boats are big 30+ footers.
They had the lake chopped to hell and back.
On way to secondary spot , I’m at speed. Not wide open but about 35 mph.
Had a 35 ft pleasure craft doing about 50 and a big ski boat cross my path in opposite directions.
Wakes merged and I saw that it would likely be hairy.
Adjusted course for head on and slowed to about 20 mph
Crested first wake way bow high , when it settled in the trough. . Second wave was waiting to eat my lunch.
Speared that wave full on. Went sub surface . Boat ate it it from bow to stern. About 10 inches of water in cockpit.
Granddaughter , bless her heart is grabbing her stuff , mu stuff like crazy moving to higher ground.
Told her “ sweetie , we are sinking”
Put bilge on manual
Limped back to closest ramp and tied off to let bilge pump do it’s job.
Some dick asked me to move so he could launch his half million. Dollar boat.
Told him to F off. I’m not moving till my pumps clear the load so I wouldn’t sink.
Bilges did their job and back in business.
Tried to go to third spot but water so rough my 80 pound thrust TM couldn’t keep pace
So rough

My daughters kids are old enough to get decent fishing combos to use.
My spinning combos are still a little cumbersome for them
I picked up a couple of Zebco 33 custom Z spin cast combos for them
Gotta say. First impression is positive.
Tossed one around the yard for a bit and seemed to be pretty solid.
For $40 I think this will be a great beginner outfit
Also picked up a tackle box with a few basic things.
Takin 12 year old granddaughter out tomorrow.
Been a while since I fished this lake so I’m clueless on what the crappie are doing. Most likely , post spawn.
Had hard rain couple days this week.
If it’s not muddy , we’ll find em

In the future, I will restrain myself from inserting sarcastic posts in reply to the outrageously ludicrous "FS Digest" posts.
Now that Admin came clean with where they come from (even revealed the formula for coming up with a fake name for the supposed "poster"....kudos for the honesty, Admin), I read them for the humor. Nowhere near as funny as Ronniejw or some of ghaynes quips and jokes, but humorous, nonetheless.
The one asking "how to catch fish without using a hook... because they're so cruel", a couple of months ago, was near the top of the list of "winners" I have found. I previously had thought we were being 'trolled' by a PETA activist, now we know it was only Admin exercising their prerogative....so be it....at least we're finally aware of why we could never get the "poster" to respond to one of our inquiries of a specific, revealing our desire to make our advice be relevant. Obviously that was an exercise in futility, on our part.
I'll just pass on the "FS DIGEST" posts from now on.....much like I do the bassaholic posts...lol !

If you are so stupid that you don't know what constitutes clear vs. muddy, you have WAAAAY more to work on than your fishing skills.

I do wish that Admin would trust the 40k+ members to offer REAL questions or comments to fill the daily stage, apparently they feel the need to "urge" with laughable inquiries...... whatever......but it should be noted that I find it highly insulting to the membership's collective abilities.

It's your baby, but I find your "policy/protocol/practice" absolutely silly, and probably a waste of YOUR time, not to mention that of the members who mistakenly believe they are "helping a friend" by posting answers, asking questions that will never get a reply, etc....... you are breeding contempt, imo....... mine, for damn sure.
