My daughters kids are old enough to get decent fishing combos to use.
My spinning combos are still a little cumbersome for them
I picked up a couple of Zebco 33 custom Z spin cast combos for them
Gotta say. First impression is positive.
Tossed one around the yard for a bit and seemed to be pretty solid.
For $40 I think this will be a great beginner outfit
Also picked up a tackle box with a few basic things.
Takin 12 year old granddaughter out tomorrow.
Been a while since I fished this lake so I’m clueless on what the crappie are doing. Most likely , post spawn.
Had hard rain couple days this week.
If it’s not muddy , we’ll find em

Ben, down here they’re in brush 10-15’ on char jigs and more on minnows, and a lot are being caught around large docks on minnows. Been raining here for two weeks, but that’s what Parks & Wildlife sent. The outfits you got sound perfect.

You’re welcome Ben. Tight lines, but most of all have fun with those kiddos.

Good luck Ben, the crappies are definitely post spawn here for the last 2 weeks but it’s been such weird weather that it’s been difficult to find concentrations of fish. Some still fairly shallow and others deep. At any rate, have a blast with your granddaughters.

All I can add is to say..."have a blast"! Spending time with grandchildren, or youthful fisherfolks in general is always fun. Nice to see the smile on a child's face when the bobber goes down or a fish strikes a lure...be it top water or below!

She’ll have fun blasting across the lake.
She’s always been the daredevil

If you can't find fish, there's always ice cream

My wife used a Zebco 33 for years. Always worked well. It's a good value for the money.

If you're not in a hurry keep an eye on LL Bean's offers. I picked up a quality spinning combo for my then 5 and 7 year old granddaughters. It was about half off on their daily special.

The Zebco 33 combos are a good choice and should last them until they’re ready to upgrade from there.
There are Zebco 202 and 404 combos that are cheaper, but still good.
Tight lines with the grandkids. I’m looking forward to the same with mine.
