And also, I caught a 100+ pound Goliath Grouper on 20 pound test mono using an Ambassador baitcaster reel mounted on a 7 foot med action bass rod. Took me 40 plus minutes to get him to the boat. Almost wore out my thumb trying to slow him down!

I have been fortunate to have caught some nice fish. Striper, Kingfish and a Largemouth (just last year). Sorry about the blood. He jumped off the gaff and my friend had to hit him again.

By "Dead Sea" do you mean Lake Altoona? If so, that's incredible, Nice LMB to catch!
Regardless, great Job Madpole.
Just checked ur profile, very nice fish.
Thnx for the pic.

That's right BD. Lake Allatoona. The bass I caught were Spotted Bass they are actually smaller than Largemouth. They outnumber the LM's in that lake and tend to eat their fry. And the Stripers and hybrids also take their toll on the LM population. It's hard to catch fish in that lake for some reason. If you come home with 3 or 4 keepers that's a good day.

Made it out to the "dead sea" just before dawn thurs. Lost a few bites on topwater and caught one Bass, then after the sun was up above the treeline switched to small crankbait and worked the shadows. Picked up two more nice ones this one 2 1/2 lbs. Wind came up and it got hot so headed in. All in all a nice morning.

You are good with 20 lb braid. Just tie on a 3 foot piece of 8/10 lb fluoro as a leader. Fish can't see your line at the bait and it helps to land a fish by simply lifting it up (no net needed). No net offers a safer way to release the fish unharmed.

Night crawlers (earthworms) for panfish or catfish bait (chicken liver and blood, get it at Wally World) for cats will be your best bet, if your not a seasoned bass fisherman. Use a bobber, prop up your pole and settle in with a cold brew. Cats will be along shortly. Some big Largemouth bass in there..try a topwater popper, early or late or even after dark.
