Cheap line? Also, the line should be tight on the reel spool and also leave a 1/4 inch of space around the spool edge. After several casts put a lot of tention on the line during the next retrieve to re-tighten the line on the spool. If you are losing a lot of rigs, increase the speed of your retrive--apparently you are hanging up on the bottom.

You lose a lot of sensitivity with a two piece rod vs. a one piece one because the two piece rod is very stiff where the two pieces come together.

Touch base with your local reel repair shop to find out what lube they use and buy a tube from them.

WD40 is a solvent not a lubracant. It will desolve your reel grease within the reel.

First and foremost, rinse them down after every use. Do NOT drown the reels, just lighly spray them off.

What's up gents? I'm a total noob surf or pier fisherman, never been. Is there a do all rod and reel combo for both? I would be fishing mainly North Carolina coast, Virginia and possibly Florida. After a little research I would think it's not one out there but thought I'd ask. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get a Penn combo in either the Fierce or Battle model. The combo usually costs just $10.00 more that the cost of the reel. Try BassPro if you have one near you.

Hello everyone, I have a ram 1500 with a 5 1/2 foot bed and im looking to take a road trip to Tennessee with my rods to do some fishing. Currently I have to turn my rods side ways for them to fit in the bed but since ill have cargo, whats the best way to store them with having to lay them on top of everything getting them messed up. My rods top at 7ft. Anyone able to have a fishing rod storage idea? BTW i have a hard top Tonneau cover so i cant mount them sticking up.
