I have 2"x8" stickers for anyone who wants one, that read....."Catch and Release Only....is simply.... RATIONALIZED WILDLIFE HARRASSMENT !
PM me for details on how to get one.
As for guy who started this thread.....why are you fishing "for fun.... don't want to keep any" ? Sorry, dude. Glad you found time with your daughter. Twice as glad you are teaching her to fish.....now teach her about ethical sportsmanship and RESPECT for the other species that make up this planet.
Barbless circle hooks are just barely acceptable as an attempt at justification for the "sport" of catch and release. I am quite aware that my views on c&r are considered rather harsh in many circles. So be it,.....broad shoulders and thick skin here,.... bring it on if you must. To try to refute my premise and convince me otherwise, is definitely a fool's errand, but, hey... your choice.
Want to give your daughter a catching experience ? Target something like perch or bluegill, rather than catfish.......and keep them, teach her to kill and clean 'em. Teach her to cook them and appreciate her contribution to the family diet. Teach her THE ENTIRE PROCESS,... PLEASE. Then, and only then, will true sportsmanship be instilled in her, ...likely for life. And you'll be proud you added that link to the chain that connects us (including fish !) ALL !

I hear you loud and clear. If your gonna fish then eat them or leave them alone. You only train them not to bite again for awhile. I have a wonderful bass lake near me and the guys get pissed because I keep them. They gotta be 16 inches . I kept a 21 incher and they went crazy. I find when they get over 19 they don't taste as good to me.
