Does anyone have any tips or advice for fishing in the rain. This weekend I did a little bit, it's been raining all weekend and most of this week coming. My thought is that the fish don't care if it's raining because they live in the water. Has anyone had any luck

I usually find that the fish are more active in the rain. Especially near the banks. The rain and rising water wash bugs and other food into the water that the fish can eat.

Use baits with a good, visible profile. Sound isn't as important.

If you are using live bait, try to get something with a little scent to it.

Fish actively hunt in the rain because it cools the water down.

I've been using white and chartreuse.

I think that should work, try some black and dark purple too. The silhouette might stand out more

Depends what you are fishing for and what type of fishing you are doing???? But lure fishing, can be better in the rain. Iv caught quite a few PBs and had some very good sessions in the rain. IMO the rain/storm effects the fry/small fish and the bigger predators come out to feast. The pressure systems can also make a big difference while fishing in the rain. Also you generally get the whole lake/pond to yourself. Keep in mind that if you are river fishing, the flow will increase and the water may turn murky very quickly.

I fish for bass and cats ATM. My wife and kids fish for whatever they can catch... But in the rain it's usually just me. I just haven't been having any luck.

I’d go with a black n blue jig & trailer, or a Texas rigged black n blue creature bait/ Zoom brush hog fallowed up with a wacky rigged senko (dark). Try heading to the back of creeks off the main lake where the rain water is flowing into the lake. Start fan casting deeper and slowly fish your way in focusing on ambush points. Good luck 🎣

I loved your description of what to use. Someday I hope to know what all that means. Until then I will assume it was Greek. Haha tight lines!

Ha! You can google the baits I’ve suggested & go to YouTube for videos about bass fishing in the rain or in any conditions, time of year etc...Study, study, study... then apply. Cheers 🎣

If it is not raining real hard, find a big tree to get under. In my state, WV. seems like when it rained and right after a rain was a good time to fish.

I'd rather fish in the rain than any other time, just not Lightning. I know the fish don't mind the lightning but I'll hunt cover when it starts. I've caught all kinds of fish in rain and thunder storms. My youngest daughter and I were fishing in a storm and I baited her line and was baiting mine when she landed a 5 pound bass. I handed my pole to her and we repeater that four times. We were drenched, and she had caught 5 pound bass the smallest was 5 pounds and the largest was 5 lb and 3 oz. Her Mom was mad as an old wet hen at me for letting her baby get wet. She stopped complaining after she started cooking fish.
