Something I don’t understand.

I watch a lot of fishing videos on YouTube and it seems these fishermen pull in a monster fish with each cast. I do well to get a nibble using the the very same bait and technique as the ones used on the videos. The only explanation that comes to mind is what I did as a kid was to salt or chum the areas where they are fishing a day or two beforehand. Any other explanation from the fishermen in the forum?

Some are private owned ponds and properties. Others have 12 hrs footage before getting a fish and actually using the footage. A good friend of mine had the opportunity to fish with Bill Dance pro fisherman years ago.
He told my friend they sometimes have to film for a week just to make one show at a single location. Just pay attention and you will notice the sun changes position in each frame and sometimes even the weather. My friend is an exceptionally good fisherman. He out fished Bill Dance so very much that he would not allow it on the air. lol

I wondered about that also. In other words they edit a week of footage down to 15-20 minutes of actually catching a fish. I do know of one YouTube person that salts a fishing area before he actually fishes it. He is a lawyer when not fishing so that makes sense. 😊 Thanks for the input BTW. It could be the only honest fisherman on YouTube is the guy and girl on the vids titled “Hook Line & Chill”: They run trot lines on a river in Kentucky and at times never get anything and on occasion pull in some nice catfish even if only 2 or 3 on the complete trot line.

What we call it is a high fence private pay 💰 and play fishing or hunting club! You 💰 pay for the size of fish 🐠 or animal 🦓 you want to harvest! It does have a price that I will never fish or hunt it. I have had the opportunity to go on high fence lands when I was a wild life tec for Florida, not to kill or fish, just has a guest. I am NOT saying everyone does that!!! Seen it, been there. Not for this redneck yankee from Penncy!

In Minnesota we are not allowed to chum for fish or deposit any fish particles, or worms, or leftover minnows in the lakes or rivers. The crawlers/worms must be deposited in the trash, not on the ground. We can no longer take any water from the lakes or rivers to transport fish home. We must bring water from another source. If any minnows are left over and they have been in a live well with lake/river water or bait bucket in the lake/river, the water must be discarded and water from another source used to transport the live minnows back home. ALL livewells must be drained, all drain plugs removed from boats and all weeds removed from boats, trailers, anchors and equipment before leaving the lake/river. Throwing food in the water while fishing is a no/no so you had better check the laws in your state before "SALTING") the water.

KenB,
I concur with Blackjack & Hunterbill. Sometimes when watching fishing shows on the outdoor channels or WFN you’ll notice that after they return from a commercial break the guys may have on different shirts or caps. On one show there was even a different outboard motor on the boat.

Sometimes it can take a week of fishing to make a thirty or hour show they don't just catch one after another if they did there be no fish for others to catch.

It could be illegal or legal in your state. It is called baiting or enticing wildlife with some types of means to harvest game. In Ga. we are allowed to put whole corn 🌽 on the ground and shoot a big buck well eating corn. And we can use salt to put on the ground and shoot a big buck. I am not for it. It is like using live bait to catch a bass! So, now your children can kill a deer 🦌 by watching a corn pile! There is no more ethics in this world! It is not the kids fault, it starts with the parents! Us grandparents now have the responsibility to teach them ethics. The world seems to be upside down!

Thanks for the reply. Main reason I was asking was I once found animal salt blocks dumped in the lake & always wondered why.

You are welcome. If you find corn it is bait for duck 🦆 hunters that has a great fine that can go💰💰💰💰both ways if you catch my drift!! DNR can take what is ALL in there possession. Here in .ga. It is up to the 👩‍⚖️ judge of what county it was for how much 💰 the charge would be. So, if a poacher was caught doing something wrong and goes to the judge 👩‍⚖️ and the poacher happens to be family member, guess what! You got it!!! This world 🌍 is up side down!!! Nothing happens!!!
