Interesting. Elliott Bay usually kicks in in winter. I’ll check it out next week.

For a lot of reasons the Hawaiian skipper only had 4 hours to fish so we brought lunch including bananas. He had that ridiculous belief too. We caught 5 Wahoo averaging 15# each and a 135# tuna - that took an hour to land or we would have caught more.
Instead of admitting the theory was silly, he said we would have caught more without the bananas. Facts never get in the way of beliefs…

I've replaced dozens of barbed trebles from plugs and spoons with large single barbless - whether bought or crimped. For those hooks without an open adjustable eye, I use split rings to connect both and it works fine.

Right Kevin. They can hang out near a river mouth for a hundred tide cycles waiting for a big rain, and all go at once. Steelhead do the same. None in the river (winter runs) until the first big freshet. The summer runs seem less sensitive.

Oregon and Washington require barbless hooks for salmon fishing. Washington requires barbless for any type of fishing in Puget Sound. As a result, fishing supply stores all offer barbless hooks, of all sizes in Washington. i think even the national chains sell them in OR and WA. Look up local fishing stores on line in any City. Cabelas and Outdoor Emporium also have them. Or try barbless hooks on Amazon.

Good luck!

Weren't sea lions following salmon up rivers during spawning even before European settlement? Or before the Spaniards? Or before Tribal populations?

Unless she's used to crowd fishing on the Kenai, the crowds at Lincoln Park may not be very enjoyable. There are about 100 fishers there before 0600 and another 50 by 0700 etc. Lots of fish. But you do need the right line and lure. And you'll have people 4-6' away on both sides.

Similar on the Puyallup

Right. I meant Lake Roosevelt (FDR Lake). But I guess they haven't gotten down that far yet. Lots of bass in Lake Roosevelt. Still a drive though.

If you don’t mind a 2 hour drive. There are LOTS of smallmouth at the confluence of the Grand Ronde and Snake Rivers in both rivers. South of Clarkston but in Washington.

The Cowlitz is one of the most productive for salmon Spring and Fall. So is the Columbia but that's a different fishery altogether.

There are runs in the Skykomish (salmon and steelhead) and the Skagit. In November there are chum runs near Hoodsport hatchery and in downtown Bellingham. Both crowded, and it's only chum. And the Humptulips has king and silver runs in early fall.

Never been so I tried to google search to see where it is and got an error "Sorry, your search appears to be outside our current coverage area for driving." I wonder if it has anything to do with the proximity to the Canadian border or if there are no roads. The aerial photo looks very nice.

Silver Lake Whatcom County is north of Maple Falls. Easy to drive there and there's a Park. I'm guessing it's too cold for bass and more of a trout lake.

However, Silver Lake East of I-5 toward St. Helens is shallow and warm and has lots of largemouth.
