Used to have lots of Pheasants here but they have been all gone for years. Farm year around now in the Valley and spray all the ditch lines and fence rows so no place left to nest.

There is alot of that here also but some of us let the land go back the way it was. I only have 10 acres but 2 of that is natural habitat. Some horse pasture.

My Wife subscribes to Consumer Reports as well. Very helpful for major purchases.

I do question Consumers Reports on my purchases only because anything lasts a few months. It's the long term I'm concerned about mostly, when buying appliances. That kind of information is hard to find.

Yep, I chased a blonde in a convertible down the highway. When I caught up the moustache under her nose was a complete surprise.

I talked to a trucker that saw a blonde with hair down to the waist hitchhiking. He stopped to give her a ride. The dude got in looked at the trucker and said, I bet you thought I was a woman. To which the trucker replied. It don't make much difference to me. He said the next time he stopped for fuel the dude took off.

Just a few quick notes to think about from Wikipedia. A cormorant can eat up to 2 lbs. of fish per day.
Take a reservoir with 5000 cormorants just eating 1 lb. would equal 5000 lbs. per day, time 7 =35000 lbs., time 30=150,000 lbs., time 3 months, (that's usually the length of time they will be here in the winter) 450,000 lbs. of fish eaten. Do you think that would have any effect on our fish population?

Sure, there you go using logic and math. Something that gets overlooked or emotions get in the way.

This past fishing season, many freshwater shoreline bound anglers like myself were agreeing with me that this was not such a great year for fishing whether you were a catch and release or a keep all you legally can keep type of sportsman. Most of the guys I spoke to blame the cormorants eating all kinds of fish, even the bluegills! What do the state biologists say about this? Are these birds to "blame" or have we just suffered a collective bad luck?

I have to admit the fish locators and the electronics on a boat make the fish locating easier. That being said I have lived and fished in Wisconsin my whole life. Cormorants and Pelicans were not around anywhere I fished until the last 15 to 20 years. Their populations have increased tremendously since then. There may be more fisherman but the cormorants and Pelicans have out paced the fisherman. The added strain on the fish population is noticed. I'm not sure what the solution is. Our DNR allowed a group to shoot and study them. They found a cormorant with a 4lb walleye in its stomach. That's alot more than I ever expected they were capable of. Just my 2 cents.

Hello stagers,
I just found out that my gas furnace has a electric pilot light ignition and won't work if the electricity is out.
In case of a power failure we can hunker down in a fully functional garage. It too has its own separate gas furnace.
My question to you is what should I invest in to heat a 16x20 space?
I'm already going to invest in a small propane camp stove/ oven from Bass Pro Shop.
I'm manly concerned about warmth in freezing weather.
If you have any recommendations or suggestions they would be much appreciated.

Back around 2002 we were keepin my daughters Jetta for her before she could take it with her up to Ft Lewis Wa.
I was drivin it back and forth to work and one night I wanted to see what it could do.
I got on it and had it up to 140 but a stop sign was comin up at a dead end T intersection and I had to shut her down. I still had another gear to use but didn't have the road to use it.
Still wonder what the top end would have been on that car.

By the way Garey, that's the fastest that I've ever driven.

140 is my tops also. I did that 3 different times, once in my Monte Carlo SS454, once on a Golwing motorcycle, and once in a 68 Corvette 427 dual 4barrels. I think that's as fast as my guardian angel can fly and I didn't want to push it. The Corvette still was pulling hard at 140 but I ran out of want to. Still would like to go to Bonneville Salt flats and go 200.

That is a smart thing to do. Back against the wall near an exit is a better spot, as far as tactical advantage. In case something bad is about to occur you can exit or at least know if another bad guy came in the other door.
