Great! I love it.
Had no trouble once I sounded the letters. Thank you!

When I lived in NC we called them Bream, Blue Gill
Bottom Fish, Perch

Now I live in Florida.
I still call them the same thing ha ha!

I have kept them over night in my bait bucket. It is over sized with a built in bubbler. The shrimp were alive the next day but no where near as active. My bait supplier told me to freeze the shrimp alive if I’m going to need to keep them longer.
That sounds sort of cruel but I don’t think it’s any less humane than sticking a hook through a live squirming shrimp.

Thank you! That is exactly the kind of information I need.
In NC we fished for Crappie when the DogWood trees bloomed, usually in March.

I moved here from NC in 2019. In NC I fished deep water. 50’ for Strippers and Cat Fish. 15-20’ deep for Crappie. I was very successful and knew how to rig and the best time of the year to go out.

The largest fresh water near me is Tarpon Sprigs Lake. It is only 12’ deep at it’s deepest point. It suppose to be full of Black Crappie and Bass. I primarily use live bait, shinners and Crappie minnows. I have had no luck.
If anyone has suggestions, I’d sure appreciate it.

I love Cat Fish. The bigger cats feed late at night. I would start around 9 pm. I used night crawlers or small live bream until a friend and his brother were catching three times as many as I was. What was their bait? Hot dogs!
I started buying an 8 pack of hot dogs at $0.88 at WalMart. I break off about an inch piece and cast it out. Cheapest and most productive bait I’ve ever used I use a Carolina Rig and put a bell on my rod. I, in truth try other bait but I always have hot dogs.

I use a small hook #8 or 10. Go through the rear of the cricket. Work the hook through body and come out through the tough tissue of the head. This keeps small bream from stealing the bait. It’s excellent for pan fish and I’ve even caught an 11lb Cat Fish on a 4lb test line. Use a small float and cast close to the shore line. Tighten line quickly. You usually get a bite as soon as the float hits the water.

Two years ago, I trailered my pontoon boat (covered) from NC to Florida. By the time I reached Florida, I no longer had a cover. It was in shreds and unrecognizable.

Problem solved. Two years later and I still don’t have a cover.

I Went of Anclote yesterday with 3 fishing buddies. We had 4 doz. live shrimp. We left the dock at 9:00am. By 10:30, we were out of bait. We kept 23 Grunt and 2 Porgies. We released multiple Grunts, Porgies, Sea Bass, Flounders, Sea Robbins and Lizard Fish.
We were back at the dock by noon.
The next time, we’ll carry more shrimp.

I thought it was a French Grunt but closer study proves it’s a Pin Fish as so many readers have suggested. Look at the elongated pectoral fins. The big give away is the black dot behind the gill. It’s A Florida Pin Fish.

It looks very much like a salt water fish called a Permit

All of these guys are right. Crappie like to come from below a bait to take it.
Sort of hard to do that if your baits on the bottom. They also like structure (bridges and sunken trees).
I use split shot and no bobber. I have more luck with minnows rather than jigs. But when they’re bitting, it doesn’t really matter.
