I took my 6 year old Granddaughter fishing, for her first time. She hooked two, within 5 minutes. In comparison to my zero. LOL.
She felt so bad for me, she came over to put some luck on my rod and reel. I pulled in a nice one, shortly after her magic.
After five hours fishing, She is now truly hooked.
( five hours of me putting the worm on, five hours of me taking the fish off and five hours of getting her line untangled )

I will spending another winter on Okaloosa Island ( Destin, Fl. ). I would like to fish the
ChoctawHatcher Bay but would like to pay a private, local fisher, to take me out on his boat.
The local charters want to much, for my wallet.
Will be in Destin , from 1-2-2022 to 3-12-2022.

Papas, same with me. Dick’s is not a stop for me. In Omaha, I have the big three stores, besides Dick’s.
Like you, I won’t give a reason, but they took my second favorite sport, out of their stores.

I have BassPro, Scheels and Cabela’s

Bfallens, it depends on your location. But when I use live shrimp , it’s normally in the the bay near Destin, Florida. Once I’m done for the day, I hang my bait bucket from the dock and with the fresh salt water, they will survive for a few days.

A old timer was using chicken breast, with garlic, jello . He let it out on his deck for a day or two and was pulling in keepers. He must have pulled in a dozen, within three hours

I like it. If you ever get near Omaha, I would fish from it.

This is the photo I tried to post earlier today. This young lady was so excited about pulling in this Bass, with her Barbie Fishing rod.
The men in the photo had to help get it out of the water but she did the rest.

I had the opportunity to watch a special needs girls, catch her first fish. She was given a Barbie fishing pole and pulled in this Bass. The men in the photo had to drag it out of the water but she did the rest.
It brought a tear to the my eye, just to see the look on her face.

As a life-longer fisherman this question is always on my mind.

A lot of anglers like to say ''it's an escape from modern life, it's peaceful and relaxing'' which is true, but let's be real, most anglers start out as kids, and this sort of stuff isn't on our minds when we are 10 years old.

For as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated with fishing, I can't walk by water without taking a few minutes to scout out some fish in the margins.

The majority of people just don't see the appeal, we've all taken a friend fishing who just didn't enjoy it...

Why do you think some people are so drawn to fishing?

As a life-longer fisherman this question is always... (show quote)

As a kid, my Dad never took me fishing due to working night and day. Then he died down young. I Did the same thing. I worked 40 straight years, on the railroad, to support my family. But now, I carry a rod in my trunk and will stop and fish at any time.
My wife understands and never questions me about being gone. I even carry a kids rod, so I can pass on the fun.
P.S. my 31 year old son is with me, when isn’t working on the railroad.

If the wife sends you out for another Sheepshead and by luck, you don’t catch one. I recommend, Joe Patties, Pensacola. LOL

This is my fifth year as a snow bird in the Destin area. This is my second year fishing off the dock of Destin West Condos. I’m having little, if any luck catching anything but blue crabs. LOL.
Call Elkhorn, Nebraska home and retired from the Union Pacific.

Looking for advice like bate and such.
