I am lucky enough to live about 25-30 minutes away from all three of these. Unfortunately all in different directions. Until a few months ago I hadn't fished sense I was a small child. I have decided I need to upgrade my gear from the wallmart stuff I bought. Is their a reason I should choose one of the above stores over the other two? I realize this is pretty lazy to ask, but checking out all three of them would probably take the better part of a day. Does it matter? Does one carry better brands and/or prices?

Thank you to any and all answers!

BPS typically has a better selection so you can put your hands on something for comparison. Make a list of what you want and compare prices against the others. Once in a while Dick’s has good prices on certain items, but not everything.
Sportsman’s Warehouse did not last in my area as they were always high priced. Find one who will price-match the others and load up. In my experience, they stock the same stuff. Good luck!

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything from Dick's even if it was half the price of the other places. I do not care for them. I won't list my reasons for fear of being sent to the attic. Just my 2 cents worth.

Same here ! I haven't even been
to a 'Dick's Sporting Goods' in over
20 years, when the local ones
started clearing out most of their hunting/fishing gear ! BPS, Cabela's
and Sportsman's Warehouse are
now all affiliated, so prices don't
vary too much - sometimes, though,
one store may carry what the other
doesn't (and vice-versa), so you may want to sacrifice some Saturday afternoon to see what your options
are !

Might be worth the time and effort
to 'plot a course' from one store to another on your car/phone's GPS, trying to minimize travel time and
gas consumption !

I usually mail order most my stuff from Tackle Warehouse or BPS. Drove by some new construction yesterday and saw Sportsmen Warehouse coming soon.... my wallet actually groaned! Lol

I was in a Dicks once. Once was enough! I just got a new ugly stick, first one I ever bought. Got it at Walmart. I suspect it will work as well as a ugly stick I bought anywhere else. I don't like spending money for the sake of spending money. got about 20 rods in the bedroom, no wife, This ugly stick is the most I ever paid for a rod and lot of these rods I've been using over 20 yrs!

Dick’s has been, and always will be a ripoff and a cheap knock-off of other REAL sporting goods stores….hence the name….

I am with Papa J. Rather do without than buy from Dicks.
