Looking good Mark.

I'm assuming that you're attaching the rope to the eye on the bow (where you would attach a trailer winch).

If so then then I would recommend the anchor bend (easier than a bowline to untie). The 2x overhand will untie easily as well as long as you don't over cinch it (it just needs to be snug).

Thank you. I will find a you tube and learn this knot.

Given that the number of fatalities caused by the bowline knot is second only to that of the square knot, I'm reluctant to include it in my list.

For more info, see the following (one of many) IGKT thread discussing the hazards.

Papa D,

Thank you for the heads up. I was totally unaware of any risks. Do you recommend another knot to use when towing that won't cinch up so tight that it's hard to remove it?

Papa D,
Please include a bowline and it's benefits at some point. At Lake Powell we often rent a houseboat and tow either fishing boats or runabouts for miles up lake before choosing a beach. Also one might easily break down and need a tow for forty miles. As you well know any other knot might be a disaster after a very long tow.

Erwin,
You can nearly always catch trout at Willow Springs and Woods Canyon in the summer. They stock them regularly. Although I prefer to fish them from a boat.

Frank,
Best buddy from childhood cancelled nine days at Powell in October. He went in for a stress test and ended up scheduled for a double bypass. He exercises regularly and eats a healthy diet so you never know.

Mike,
On the farm we used to pick them up and toss them in the gravel driveway. After a few weeks they were hulled. Sure brings back memories.

My four most used lures on Powell are drop shot with Yamamoto shad shaped worm, 1/4 oz. ball head jig with grub, ned rig, and wacky senko. On the Salt River chain I prefer a roboworm on the drop shot. Sometimes to switch it up I throw a swimbait or crankbait.

I am in Page for the entire month fishing Lake Powell. Perhaps when I get home we can plan a trip to Roosevelt or Apache.

Great report Jer. I'm at Lake Powell this entire month with daytime temps from 70-80 degrees. Your post reminds me why I stayed out west when the Army got done with me. I miss some things about Indiana and Illinois where I grew up but definitely not the cold.

I wish I was too Jim. Someday I'll make the trip. Check out Smallyguy's post from lake Erie, yesterday. MONSTER SMALLIES!

I know the smallmouth population exploded in the Great lakes when they introduced gobies.

Wish you were here with me Fred. My guest for this week cancelled, he's having open heart surgery, so I'm fishing alone this week at Lake Powell. Boated twenty today besides the awesome scenery. Next week I get Wullfy and Cam T. Very excited to share my favorite lake with Mark.
