The same could be said about the Polio v*****e, chicken pox, small pox, etc. Sometimes you have to put your trust in science. Yeah the politicians puff up their chests saying how they were the ones that pushed the v*****e,but I believe science and the brains that come up with the v*****e are smarter then all the politicians. I just can't put all my trust in one thing or person. I know of 2 people in their early 30's that died from C***d, all within a week of getting it. (no v*****e then) Believe in what you want, but my money is in science. After all didn't God create them to make the v*****e to help mankind?!

I always rinse rods and reels off. I'll wipe reel with rag then spray light coat of WD-40 on reel. So far no problems yet. I also try to remember to loosen drag too but don't always, old age I guess!

Kind of looks like a croaker to me, they are from the drum family I think. Did it make a thumping noise when pulled from water?

Have an Okuma now that needs the felt drag washers. Worked fine until one day after casting and reeling in, the drag just stopped working. Even with the drag cranked down fully, I could not reel it in. Had to hand pull in the line and then reel it back on with no weight on it. Have the new washers on the way, hope they work!

His name is Tom, he works part time when needed, mostly weekend mornings. He didn't work much last year because of Covid screwed things up so much. He won't be there this season getting both knees replaced, first one getting done next Friday. Second done 8 weeks later!

Good mornin' and welcome to the Forum, Jaimie, You can't believe a thing you read on here. Well,,,,,,,,,,,, maybe a few things. If you are so inclined.

I think you got some good advise on fishing spots. I lived in NJ for 55 years and Poverty beach and the lighthouse jetties are good spots. My brother still lives in Cape May and works at Hands Too bait shop just before the bridge going into Cape May, stop in for bait and get info on whats running and where. I have also fished off the jetties where the ferry comes in, had lots of luck there. Even up the bay a little at Reeds Beach off the jetty there. Good luck!

Love palm coast villas, please holler if you have any luck, sadly never caught one.

I have caught many pompano, the trick is catching one that is legal. I have only caught 2 that were legal and both tasted great too!

Live in Palm Coast, I too am waiting for the pompano. Untill then I'll settle for the whiting and what ever else finds my bait!

I have the sand flea rake and when they are out, I can scoop up couple dozen at once. I made a holding container out of a plastic coffee can, cut slots where the handle is to slip my belt through. Cut a D shaped hole in lid half size of lid to drop fleas in so they won't fall out as I bend over to scoop them up. Use the live ones for the day then I'll even blanch them in boiling water for a few seconds then cool them. I then put them in vacuum seal bags, just enough for 1 fishing trip and freeze them. Making several bags at once.

Penn reels have been around since 1932. My dad had one that he got when he was a teen in the late 30's. Dad grew up in Philly were the reels were made. My brother still has it, along with the bamboo rod too!

You said you kayak fish. Are you going to wear waders while in kayak? If so I wouldn't wear then while in a kayak. No matter how careful you are, you still could tip over and that is not a good thing if wearing waders. What if they fill with water? You would have one hell of a time trying to stay above water as they fill up! My thoughts, kinda dangerous don't you think? I would never wear mine while fishing in my kayak.

Is your SOT pretty wide? If yours is as wide as mine, 32 inches, it may be hard to keep balance. You center of gravity will be higher and may cause you to flip over. If it is wider like 36 inches and the type you can stand on then you may be ok.
