Years ago here in Louisiana you could only fish the Pearl River to the center of the river. If a Mississippi game warden decided you were pass the center line, he could ticket you.
It was changer to the shoreline but it was illegal to cast into a boat slip.

A bottle of single malt will last a long time on my bar. J&B not so long.

I have a bottle of Haig and Haig Pinch bottle. Sip it every now and then. Also have a few bottles of single malt that a friend likes when he comes over.

Most of the good bars in and around the New Orleans area poured J&B as their well scotch. Liked it then and kept drinking it.

Investing early last year in plex-a-glass would have made you a rich man.
At 76 YO I used to say that I didn't open my eyes until I took a big sniff.
If I didn't smell candles or flowers I figured I was still alive and get up.
Now if you can't smell it might be a sigh that you have CV19.
So now when I get up I pour myself about two fingers of Scotch. If I can smell it and taste it I know I'm OK. I retest my self 5-6 times during the day.

My wife is starting to cook a traditional new years dinner. Corned beef, cabbage and black eye peas.
Cabbage for money, black eye peas for health and I guess the corned beef just because it's good.
Happy new year to y'all and hope 2021 is a lot better than what we just had. Tight lines.

Young ladies in the South go to charm school to learn how to say "Well, isn't that special" instead of
"No shit".
Calling someone a coonass if you don't know them well could be dangerous. But after the fight y'all will sit down and drink some beer.
No tomatoes in any of my families combo. They would have to change their last name and I'm not getting rid of LeBlanc.

Gumbo is a religion here in South Louisiana. You can put anything you want in it but DON'T put tomatoes in it no matter what recipe you have. And yes, Coonass is a term of endearment down here.

And the blonde's comeback.
Why are blonde jokes so short?
So brunettes can remember them.

While hunting in Mexico many years ago I asked one of the guides how to cook Javelina. His directions were to kill a female and cut the leanest meat from her hind legs and nail it to a big branch of mesquite and make a fire hot enough to bend horseshoes then put it in the fire. After about 45 minuets take it
out, pull the nails out throw the meat away and eat the mesquite. He said and I quote "A self respecting Mexican would never eat one of those nasty pigs."
We use to have a lot of them on our quail hunting area around Uvalde, TX, but they are gone. The feral hogs have run everything off. The hogs destroyed the quail hunting by eating the quail eggs. Hogs are such a problem here in Louisiana that after deer season you can hunt them at night. Now the feral hogs are good eating. We caught a 130# sow and 6 piglets in a trap 2 weekends ago and I cooked one piglet for Thanksgiving. No leftovers.

Here in South Louisiana I have had pelicans grab a lure in mid flight. Big heavy birds with talons on those big webbed feet. Finally get them in and throw a towel over them. Try to keep them in the water and get the hooks out without hooking yourself. Had to take one in the boat to unhook it. Hooks in top and bottom part of its beak. Got it unhooked and he thanked me by crapping in my boat. Think about what a diet of nothing but fish smells like. I had to pressure wash the interior and clean the area with pine oil.

Robert, we never have friends who retire and go North, we have quite the opposite.
