What is this guy. Are they eatable. Where do they live. Are they aggressive. Is there a season on them. Unscramble this and it’s crappie candy. NIOMNW.

Good mornin' Mike, you're are easy today, that is a wild hog and the crappie candy in a minnow.
Agree with Ben and yes they are tasty!
It's a javalina yes there's a season and yes they're pretty good eating and they will eat your minnows also.😁
While hunting in Mexico many years ago I asked one of the guides how to cook Javelina. His directions were to kill a female and cut the leanest meat from her hind legs and nail it to a big branch of mesquite and make a fire hot enough to bend horseshoes then put it in the fire. After about 45 minuets take it
out, pull the nails out throw the meat away and eat the mesquite. He said and I quote "A self respecting Mexican would never eat one of those nasty pigs."
We use to have a lot of them on our quail hunting area around Uvalde, TX, but they are gone. The feral hogs have run everything off. The hogs destroyed the quail hunting by eating the quail eggs. Hogs are such a problem here in Louisiana that after deer season you can hunt them at night. Now the feral hogs are good eating. We caught a 130# sow and 6 piglets in a trap 2 weekends ago and I cooked one piglet for Thanksgiving. No leftovers.

Javalina from Arizona, New Mexico and I’m not sure where else. Tough as nails to eat but flavorful. and they are very aggressive. They’ll shred a hound dog in seconds. On a lighter note a “MINNOW” is great crappie candy.
Peccary, also known as javelina or skunk pig. I would know that wouldn't I? As the "skunk" implies, they are nasty smelling. They also have nasty attitudes. Fortunately they can't climb. Never eaten one, but I hear they're tough.
Yes, Javelinas and wild hogs are not the same. As Spirit mentioned, the more appropriate name is Peccary, but in Texas that is seldom used in place of Javelinas.
If you want some first hand experience, read my post, "Javelina tamales on the halves". Just Sayin....RJS
Spirt and RJS have it. The Javelina can be found in parts of Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California and I assume most of Mexico. When I lived in Tucson, one lived on my porch for a couple of weeks when we were on vacation. One place it is never found is on my dinner plate. Hunting season in Arizona is February.

Crappies (and many other species) love MINNOWS,
which is why they're considered
a great bait !
That's a peccary (or javelina), common throughout the southwest, and considered a nuisance in some states ! They
are edible, most southwestern states have a hunting season for them (Texas is open season year-round), and they can be very aggressive, even dangerous,
in certain situations !
Aggressive—very: eatible—yes, Texas has open season and no limit!
Go to my post “javalina tamales on the halves”! Just sayin...RJS

Nasty smelling and tough as nails from what I have had (only 2 and that was enough)
I could have misspoke. Since Texas has 254 counties it’s best to verify both season and limits where you plan to hunt! Lots of guides offering hunts. Not cheap but they are more likely to make your trip a success! Just Sayin...RJS
Javelinas is the nickname of Texas A&M University, Kingsville. Only school that uses that as a mascot.
