Just wondering if anyone here has ever fished Eve’s Point?
Yeah, a few areas around there. That area when its hot Striper time is so congested its no fun, guys show up with 2, 4, 5 rods in - fishing with cut bunker, etc. I only use lures to not damage the fish. So I get in the say basically. Some of the guys at the crowded areas are stupefied by my catch & release - far too many under slot fish taken all year round in Brooklyn. And over too.
Sweet! I’m always tempted to help myself when fishing your area. One day I just may. Those look incredible!
The East River (not a river) can seem dirty on the edges and canals and manmade inlets, sometimes the street run off is gross in certain areas. But on the whole its attached to the Atlantic so the water is exchanged constantly. The Hudson Stripers are a no-eat due to how much time they spend up in the GE PBC polluted waters. Soon the frightening Gowanus Canal will be refreshed - you might know, they are dredging it out, and creating a new cement bottom ($$$).
My son’s PB 28” caught on a 6” Savage Gear 1.5 oz eel Lure, from a structure, Jan 19. Lure in the water 2 seconds! Its not 100% they’ll be around, but when they appear its a lot of fun. Normally these guys now are all 17-21.” Released.
I fish if its at least 39 degrees.
My experience in SC with Reds it doesn’t matter - loose or tight. If’ing they take it its took. If their there 🤦♂️. I use shrimp or a live minnow on the hook.
Fantastic! I’m hoping to get my lures back but mostly the fish!
This is the average Schoolie I’m getting in Wallabout, Brooklyn (Navy Yard area)
I recently had a line fail and I failed (lazy) to change until I lost 3 big Striper Schoolies (guessing at least 30 inches). So 3 fish with a 1 oz bucktail and a bright bubblegum tail attached out there now.
Braid was old and hacked up from structures and oysters in SC. And then from the first big Striper rubbing up against the cement pier I fish off here in Brooklyn.
Photo is around average size I’m catching now.
