As far as I know power bait is a scented plastic bait made by Berkley and has many forms. My favorite is the 5 inch
mullet. Look up power bait on Amazon to see what it is. If it is something else I don't know it.

Where do you find sand worms or are you talking about gulp sand worms
I like power bait 5 inch mullet when I can't catch any real mullet or in early spring before the mullet hatch has grown up. Another favorite is Z-Man minnow z in glow chartreuse. In the spring we use mud minnows (kili fish). It is a highly targeted fish we don't catch them like we used to and they are constantly adjusting the size you can keep or how many.
By the time it heats up the baitfish spawn has taken place and the fish get stuffed. You need live bait to tempt them because they don't need to expend any effort to feed. Shallow water loses it's oxygen so you need some moving water adjacent to deeper water. Summer is tough for a lot of different fish.
There are some exceptional recipes for fish dip using blue fish also smoking them is very good I never say no to a couple of under 3 pound blue fish.
There is a trick to blues bleed them soon as you catch them when you clean them take as much of the red meat off as you can. Let them sit in a good brand of Italian dressing for an hour before you cook them. They must be iced
down when you catch them and eat them the same day. Let 3 pounders go back in cook the rest.
Cost per fish if we all took time to figure that out none of us would fish anymore. You sound a bit like me at 81 my ballet dancing days are long gone. You have to take extra time to see obstacles in your way. I don't dare go fishing in my buddies Jon boat anymore I think I'm too clumsy to stay in it and standing to take a pee would be out of the question. Questions to ask yourself if I fall from here will I kill myself or drown. Do I need barbs on these hooks.
Is this the easiest way to fish. STAY healthy have fun but be careful.
Get some 10# braid and cast away.
The guys at Bass Pro are very sharp and they will help you get started.
Most guys will say for acurate casts a bait caster sometimes they can be a bit frustrating though. I use both.
#20 pound braid with a #10 leader sounds good to me also. I would never argue about it but I know braid can scare fish off. Flouro won't.
I fish a bunch of docks if they are available if no luck then points that drop into deeper water. Bass like to hang out on the fall. If none of that works it's time to stop off for a beer.
The cinch knots have some failure with braid I don't use them anymore as they cost me a nice Red Fish. I like the trilene knot a lot.
