Jean is Home and doing well. She has a nurse come several times a week to dress her wound. It is showing signs of healing, but still a way to go. Thank you for asking. Just Sayin...RJS

If I were you and dead set on catching a lot of croppie, I would bait my own hole. Go to YouTube for details.
basically, you would take a 6 ft. Christmas tree, or a cedar tree, tie a large rock, or cinder block on the base and sink it in a likely spot. You would also sink either a bale of vetch hay or buy a sack of cotton seed cake (cattle feed) to attract the minnows that croppie fee upon! Mark the exact location with your GPS.

I would also be careful about having others seeing you do this, because then they might poach on your rightful spot. This works and I have known several friends who do this every year! Good luck and post some pictures of your catch.
I was born in Cooke County and went to High School in Saint Jo. After the U.S. Air Force, had a short stent in Gainesville and help establish North Texas Marine, the Evinrude Dealership there. Just Sayin...RJS

Hello BF54: I don't know much about croppie in Texoma. There are tons of white bass and stripers! So, I would assume that croppie are there in abundance, since Texoma is a huge lake with plenty of food for all bigger fish.

I don't know how far you live from Texoma, or your financial situation, but if you want to catch a limit of stripers, hire one of the fishing guides at Denison, TX. They are in putting fishermen on stripers, and do this rregularly. I don't have any of their names or phone numbers, but am sure you can google them! Just Sayin...RJS

We are almost ken! Alice ran away from home with a friend. They were missing from Lubbock, Tx for some time. While Alice and a friend were 'on the street' in Los Angles, an evangelist, Amy McPherson Simple took them in, room and board until they could find jobs! Since Alice's mother was my Aunt Dove Bennett, born to Joe and Gertie Samples in Indian Territory. Aunt Dove was the next to oldest of our family and my Dad was the youngest.

Sam had some pretty rough experiences at sea. He and Alice came by our place in Houston, probably in the 1980's. We took them to dinner at the San Jacinto inn, which was where Texas, under Sam Houston defected the Mexican army and gained our Independence, and where the Battleship U.S.S. Texas was birthed. Sam wanted to see the Texas, so we took them to dinner an neither Sam or Alice would eat any seafood! Fortunately, near the end of the meal, we were served hot biscuits and fried chicken!!! Sam told a lot of sea stories.

I asked him why they didn't like fish, or seafood of any kind. He said all newly promoted enlisted men when they crossed the Equator were given a rather brutal hazing! One thing that made a big impression for the initiates, was to have to eat boiled fish out of a trough with a ladle! So, that's the reason they never ate fish.

So, tell me a little about yourself. You probably didn't know that Alice's mother was a Samples! Just Sayin...RJS

A frog went a-courtin' and he did ride, M-hm, M-hm.
A frog went a-courtin' and he did ride,
Sword and pistol by his side, M-hm, M-hm.

He rode up to Miss Mousie's door, M-hm, M-hm,
He rode up to Miss Mousie's door,
Where he'd often been before, M-hm, M-hm.

He said, "Miss Mouse, are you within?" M-hm, M-hm,
He said, "Miss Mouse, are you within?"
"Yes, kind sir, I sit and spin." M-hm, M-hm.

He took Miss Mouse upon his knee, M-hm, M-hm,
He took Miss Mouse upon his knee
Said "Miss Mouse, will you marry me?" M-hm, M-hm.

"Without my Uncle Rat's consent, M-hm, M-hm,
Without my Uncle Rat's consent
I wouldn't marry the President." M-hm, M-hm.

So, I ask, Do you suppose Uncle Rat is wise enough to pick
the next president? Just Sayin..RJS

Well, if you were a fisherman during WW II, you would be super happy to have any kind of tackle, because you sure could not find any to buy! The war effort took all the tackle off the market. If it wasn't used for supplying life rafts for downed navy pilots, the manufacturer was building something else.

We had a hard time finding anything even from older neighbors who no longer fished. Just Sayin...RJS

Oink! OINK! Well, having a 20-year horizon for a fishing reel is terrific, except I don't have 20 years now. If that could happen, I would be 110 years old! I can barely walk now, so fishing would be a problem, think what i would be like 10 or 20 years later.

All the 'snotty nosed' kids would be grown and parents of even and bearing even more unmanageable offspring! Just Sayin...RJS

Since the white, or Sand Bass, nor the food that they survive on cannot leave the lake, what you have to do is find the bait fish! On Lake Texoma, the bait fish is gizzard shad! You can use your fish finder to find the shad, and then when you find the food, you have also found your target, White bass. And I have it on good information, that this also applies for stripers!

If you live close enough and wish, come to the dam end of Texoma, hire one of the guides there to take you out. Usually they will have you limit out on stripers. They are above being just experts in catching stipers since they go out almost every day and you will be worn out fighting 10 pound and larger fish! Just Sayin...RJS

Well, if it was a truck or boat, I would say, "check the nut behind the wheel!" But a reel, perhaps it is the user, not the reel! I have often found that decisions about the quality of a reel is largely based upon the expertise of the user! Just Sayin...RJS

Well, my 2 cents worth about our future president, you do not send a Mother Theresa for the mess we have in Washington. I do not judge either Biden or Trump as to their morals, or ethics, but whether they GET THE JOB DONE! If I were elected President, that would be the measure or gauge I would expect I would be measured! Not whether I had 100 Honeys! Nothing else! Just Sayin...RJS
