I’ve heard similar reports. Tuna are way out. Bite is sporadic. Tuna are deep. Good luck

Caught this today at Upper Priest Lake ID - Not sure what it is. He’s back swimming again.

Definitely a pike minnow!! And they’re right, super nuisance!! They are native to the PNW. Definitely not an endangered bull trout.

Hi, I'm headed to Westport on Monday and I'm looking for any info that could make me trip successful. I will be taking my boat and this will be my first trip to Westport this year.
Thank You

Heard chinook fishing is slow 33% catch a fish and that coho quota will be filled today. Catch WDF&W website for up to date information. Good luck, tight lines, and please post pictures 🤙🏼

That's how to start your work day. Portland Oregon and LSU shirt. You travel a long ways to go fishing. LOL

Oregon State University Beavers. Yes, that would be a long way to drive for a morning fishery🤣

I can totally relate. But you need two rods. IMO, a 10’ 4wt for trout and a 11’6-12’6” 8 wt are the most versatile folds for the PNW. Good luck and tight lines 🤙🏼

I’m guessing that you’re in Arlington just north of Everett? If so, the Skagit River should be very productive. There is every species of salmon and a really good dolly varden fishery. Tight lines 🤙🏼

If you had to choose one location to fly fish in the lower 48 of the US this fall, where would you choose to go? I need some advice as I haven’t had the opportunity to travel for fishing purposes at this time of year before.

I’d check out the N.W. Just the beginning of chinook season, coho and chum salmon in full effect, end of summer steelhead season (which can be epic with flies), and endless streams and lakes for all species of trout. I’m a little bias, but there are endless options. P.M. me if you head west. I’m well versed on all species and can point you to a great location depending on your targeted species of choice. Tight lines 🤙🏼

Caught a 15-16” rainbow on a dry fly yesterday While wading in a small river. While I was playing him a second rainbow about the same size hit the nymph dropper that was being pulled through the water by the first fish. Got fish # 1 in the net. As soon as that happenEd 6x tippet going to fish # 2 snapped. Any suggestions on how to land 2 at once.

That doesn’t happen all the time and I’ve never landed them both. Especially with 6x. It’s pretty sweet experience to watch though. If you figure it out, let us know 🤙🏼

Hello y'all. I'm cam and need to know where to catch crappie and bass around Portland Oregon

Welcome. Been here for 46 years, but not the most versed in bass fishing. In my experience, the Willamette River, the mouth of the Molalla River are best. There’s a7 ponds called St.Louis ponds down by Woodburn that are supposed to have those species. Also a few lakes up the gorge that should suffice. Tight lines and hit us back up with pictures 🤙🏼

I know it’s a great place to catch em. I have never fished it but been told I should. You should go back. It is supposed to be good for big fish for awhile. You think the big one was a holdover or planted when truck dumped?

Definitely just dumped. I could see many, many fish rolling like dolphins. Clear Lake isn’t very deep and doesn’t have any creeks dumping into it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it freezes solid. I’ve never tried to get there in the winter, my mind is on those darn steelhead.

Cool. Which lake?

Clear Lake. The one on Mt. Hood. Not the most beautiful lake, but who cares when you’re in the right place at the right time 🤙🏼

Sooo... I finished a job early last Wednesday by 10 am and was only 30 minutes from a lake. Since my rods ride in my truck, I made the drive up. When I arrived, the wind was blowing sideways and I was questioning my choice. I was parked in my truck wondering if it was worth getting out (38degrees & 25 mph winds), not your ideal weather for fishing. Then I heard the unmistakable rumble of a large diesel truck. I started to smile and decided to stay. The hatchery truck backed down the ramp and started his deposit. I waited while about 30 minutes as he released his load and then ate his lunch. When he drove off, I grabbed my fly pole and made a short walk. Well, that was a bad choice. Even with nearly 40 years of fly fishing experience, I couldn’t keep from either hitting myself it the back of my head with my line or wrapping my line around my rod. Luckily I had made a good decision and had a spinning reel and a few lures. The next 1.5 hrs was outstanding!! 10 fish 8-12”, 12 fish 12-16”, & 8 fish 16”+. Along with quite a few lost fish or long distance releases. I don’t usually keep fish, but ended up keeping 2. The small one (16”) was bleeding pretty bad and his buddy was just to big. Not my largest rainbow, but probably my largest in Oregon. I took measurements at the house. 26 3/4” long, 7 lbs cleaned. I now know what it would be like to fish the hatchery ponds. None were exceptional battles, but it was definitely a great couple hours!! Tight lines and stay healthy 🤙🏼

Would you run a main line to a swivel, then a mono or fluoro to a three-way swivel, then a fluoro leader to the bugger and another fluoro drop line to the maribou jig? I can draw it easier than I can describe it (if necessary).
I guess you could also eliminate the first swivel if it drifts properly, too.

I’d go bugger to bugger with tippet 3x less than the hook size. And run as many hooks as legally allowed. I’d run the weight above and not behind. Weight will probably affect the motion of the buggers if placed behind. A spreader bar would work
