Spot are a fun fish to catch. They have a lot of fight in them for their size. My cousin Larry taught me to rig the spot up with 2 hooks. One on the dorsal fin and one on a steel leader in it’s tail. You drop the fish straight down and the Bluefish would tear them up. The Bluefish would always attack the Spot from behind and take the tail hook in the process. That was my first time catching Blues and it made for a fun day. We used to call them Norfolk Spot.
Nice boat Danger. I’m sure you’re going to enjoy many great days with it.

Any good place to fish in harford county Md my son and I been out 3x so far not catching anything
I haven’t been fishing myself in years due to various reasons, but my son and brother have fished at Mariner Park in Joppatown with some success. There is a park with piers and a boat ramp at the end of Willowby(sp) Beach Rd. in Edgewood. Make a Rt. on Kennard Ave to the park at the Amtrak bridge on the Bush River. I have seen people fishing at various parks along the Susquehanna in Havre de Grace. In the Spring, there’s plenty of action at Greys Run on Rt. 40 between Edgewood and Aberdeen. On Otter Point Rd.in Abingdon, there’s the Anita Leight Estuary Center in Abingdon. There’s plenty of places to wet your lines. Wishing you good luck.
Lake Waterford on Solley Rd. It’s a nice park. I haven’t been there in years, so I’m not sure about how the fishing is now.
Looks like you had a fun day Gordon. Sometimes fishing alone makes for a peaceful day. That’s quite a variety you caught there. Takes me back to my days on the Chesapeake Bay. I really miss having my boats. Traded them for a station wagon when our third baby came in four years. She was just 36 on June 30th, so it’s about time for me to make a move and get back out on the water.
That’s why they call the Chesapeake Bay region, “The Land of Pleasant Living” !
When I was about 8-10 years old, my neighbor and I would use a saine (sp?)net to catch minnows and we’d sell them to the bait shop in our neighborhood. One day the owner asked us if we could help him do something. His refrigerator wasn’t working and his bloodworms were going to go bad. They came in boxes of several hundred each. He asked if we could throw them overboard for him. He said that we could have some if we wanted them. We took 13 boxes home and my buddy put them in his refrigerator in their basement. The next day, his basement smelled awful, like a dead animal. We threw them away, but the smell lasted for quite a while. His parents weren’t too happy with us. It was a lesson learned about bloodworms. I’ve never liked using them ever since then.
Plumb Bob, Stoney Creek is the creek just outside of the Key Bridge. Next one out passed Curtis Creek, where the Coast Guard Yard is. I spent many fun days on Stoney Creek. It’s directly across from Bear Creek, where I spent my entire life. Beautiful waters and lots of great fishing.
Congratulations Fred. It will be 8 years for me tomorrow. It’s nice to wake up and know you can do whatever you want to do every day. My ex-wife lost her job last spring and she asked me how long it took me to get used to not working. I told her it was about 2 minutes. The amount of time it took to get to my car. Wishing you good health and happiness. Enjoy every day!
Thanks for the Birthday greetings to all. I had a nice lunch with my brother and sister-in-law. Big party planned for next Sunday. It’s my ex-wife’s birthday too. We didn’t get to celebrate my daughter’s birthday a few weeks ago so my youngest daughter is having us all over next Sunday for a party. They’re making a big deal about me turning 70.I’m not that excited about that, but time goes on. No turning back.
Great news Ronnie. There’s some wonderful folks on this site, and I’m sure all of the good thoughts and prayers were a great comfort for you. Here’s wishing you great days ahead and enjoy every day to the fullest.
I submitted my vote. From one Chesapeake Bay fisherman to another. Best of luck. Your picture looks like a winner to me.
I found out that I could silence any caller that’s not in my directory list. The calls come in, but the phone doesn’t ring. If it happens to be legit, the caller will leave a message. It’s made my life so much better, with the phone not ringing all day. Check it out. It’s a simple, one step process.
Thanks for the reply and kind words plumbob. Attached are a couple of pictures my son took of where I grew up. Bear Creek in the Sparrows Point area. My nephew got my parents house from my brother and I and we were happy it stayed in the family. I was 65 when I got my first grandson and hope to take him there soon to fish. He’s 4 now and ready to start. Picture of my nephew with a catfish he caught from the pier.
