bass. it can be fished many different ways, but my biggest bass with one of these rapalas was with a twitch and long pause as i reeled up the slack. after the ring in the water are gone, another twitch, pause...

i would get a an old-syyled round hummingbird and learn how to use it properly.
the first thing is to get a good hook set. then keep tension on the fish; don't give it ahy slack. with the snapping of the line, don't force the fish. if it wants to run, let it wear itself out on your properly set drag.
stuff like craft fur can be puchased at the craft dept @ walmart or craft stores such as hobby lobby, you can find a lot on line at cabelas, bass pro shop, etc.
a fly rod is a lot of fun with bluegills. they love the little poppers.
high rock is probably very low right now, but yesterday's rain and the rain coming wednesday should make the fish more active. j haven't fished salem in over 25 years, but it was oner-fished back then. i agree with the comment about smaller baits and slowing down.
as hot as it is, i'd say not much. i'd get out around dawn and fish with as light a pyramid sinker to keep your rig still and use 2 smaller hooks w/ just a pinch of shrimp if you just want to catch a lot of small fish.
try a tiny yellow panther martin w/ red spots. fish it slowly.

@jimred. walmart still has guns and ammo, just not ar15's and their ammo and pistol ammo. they will quit selling handguns in alaska. you can still, for now, buy shotguns and deer rifles and their ammo. as for not carrying in walmart, they didn't say you can't. they just asked you not to. i have a permit and carry concealed. i wouldn't want to carry open because that would make me the first one to be shot.some day you probably won't be able to buy shotguns there because they'll be termed weapons of mass destruction and deer rifles will be labelled sniper rifles. eventually our bill of rights will be turned into the bill of wrongs by those that pull a lot of the strings and want to pull them all. watch the speech that got jfk killed a week after he gave it where he warned of the powerful players in the shadows.
they are not going to quit selling reels. a lot of people who work at walmart have no idea about what they are talking about.
