Welcome Rdog. I wish I could help you but I understand your desire to fish inshore. I used to strictly surf fish but for the past 15 or so years I mainly fish inshore. I love it. Unfortunately I'm only familiar with North Carolina. There is several members of the Forum from Fla. so I'm sure help is on the way. Good luck and tight lines.

What a great experience that must be. My brother was stationed in Alaska in the 70s and almost stayed after he got out. The more I hear and learn about the state the more I understand his love of the place.

The bird nest in the picture would be enough for me to throw the reel and the bird nest in the trash.😬🤯😖😎

I'm like you on that one Big A. I bought several bait casters and had a good friend try to teach me. I could never get the release right. I'd cast it 20 feet and usually bird nest.
My friend would cast the same reel and could pin point his cast anywhere for about 40 yards. I had alway used spinning gear and was fairly good with spinners so I decided it wasn't worth the frustration. I'm just a spinning gear type person and proud of it.

Never be afraid to ask first even if it's posted. The worst thing that can happen is they say No.

My dad had a way with people. He had never met a stranger and we fished some of the best private ponds and lakes in North and South Carolina. I'm not blessing that way and most of the people he knew have either passed away or have sold the property. I miss my Father so much every day and he's been gone since 1970. I was 16 when he died. Tough times.

Dang I apologize I didn't mean to go south on ya'll. Time to go fishing.

We've always called them bluegills where I'm from. Love to catch them with a fly rod and a popper or just use a number 6 hook and crickets.

Super Bowl was as usual, the most dull game of the year. Entertainment was plain lousy as usual. I stopped watching for several years ago and I believe it's time to stop again.

When I was going to school in Wilmington, NC, we would catch catfish in the Cape River. That river can be dirty. So we would put them in a wire basket for a week floating in the brackish water. They would lose at least a pound but that was some of the best catfish I've ever eaten.

I've tasted BBQ raccoon. It wasn't that bad but I couldn't get over the fact that it was raccoon. If you're starving, it would help keep you alive. I guess!

I don't know for sure but with the rain we've had I would think it's a safe bet to say yes. I know the Yadkin River is muddy but that's not unusual.

Welcome Outcast. Since I've joined the Forum I'm starting to learn a little about fishing up North so I look forward to hearing about your adventures.
