Dang brother. Too bad you couldn't explain that you knew his brother and somehow become friends with the new owner and even offered to share any fish you caught.
Years ago I was fishin the South Fork of the American River north of Placerville Ca.
As I was in this one spot this fella comes up on me and starts tellin me that he owns the property and that I was trespassing. That I have no right to be there and that he lived in the house right up there and could see if people were on his property without his permission.
Told me I could fish there today but don't come back.
Well, I apologized and explained that I had just been walkin along the river and didn't realize I was on private property right there.
Well, I finished fishin after a little while and drove up to the mans house. I got out of the truck and went up to the door and ask him if he would like to have the fish I caught today.
He couldn't believe that I would take the time to come give him some fish.
Again I apologized for trespassing and said I would have ask if I knew the owner lived up here and I was on his property.
The man said he use to fish it all the time but he wasn't able to fish anymore. He told me I was welcome to come back anytime I wanted to.
I made several trips back there and I ALWAYS took him a limit of fish when I was done.
It was over an hour drive to get there and I eventually stopped goin there cause I could catch plenty of fish a lot closer to home.
I did miss goin by the old man's house and givin him fish though.

Humbling yourself and asking can work. Since I stopped arguing with cops, admitted I was wrong, apologized and asked if they could help me at all I’ve gotten a lot of breaks and a lot fewer tickets.

Not meant as criticism SV. An observation. Sometimes the best thing to do IS to walk away. Great strategy calling the brother.

My dad had a way with people. He had never met a stranger and we fished some of the best private ponds and lakes in North and South Carolina. I'm not blessing that way and most of the people he knew have either passed away or have sold the property. I miss my Father so much every day and he's been gone since 1970. I was 16 when he died. Tough times.

Dang I apologize I didn't mean to go south on ya'll. Time to go fishing.

All good Tman. I find myself reminiscing more than I used to. Dads been gone 20 and Mom 30 years.
16 is tough. My best friend when I was young test drove a new VW with his dad when he was 16. My friend was driving, hit a patch of ice and a pole and his dad died. My friend and the salesman walked away. Tough stuff.
Especially when you’re young.
