Nice bluegill. They are delicious (had a mess of them on Friday night).
Slip bobbers with small jigs or just a #6 hook and a split shot with Worms, leeches, wax worms, maggots or Chena bait will work.
The males guard the nest.
Roger Goodell may be looking for a check, so I will guess Superb Owl to save us the hassle. 😉

That is a pig of a bluegill. I really think that if they got as large as bass they’d outfight them.

I would look at it and call it a sunfish. I never fished for them by species, just as fish.

I'm sure glad you "tagged" that fish a "Brim"... I've been unclear in my mind about ¿Exactly WHAT IS a Brim?; since 1976!!! I may be out of step, but growing up and fishing in Red River, we used these for bait. Large catfish love sunfish, brim, bulegills, this whole family of fish. Now before going and using a sunfish for bait, check your state's regs about their use as bait. Just Sayin...RJS

It's a green sunfish and they are very good to eat.

We've always called them bluegills where I'm from. Love to catch them with a fly rod and a popper or just use a number 6 hook and crickets.

Super Bowl was as usual, the most dull game of the year. Entertainment was plain lousy as usual. I stopped watching for several years ago and I believe it's time to stop again.
