Hello fellow anglers, I am planning a road trip to Portland Christmas vacation and would like some pointers as to the fishing availability. I have never salmon or steelhead fished, only dreamed of it. Online the fishing license is expensive and do plan on buying one. recommendations on poles, reels. line, hooks and bait? Also what rivers or lakes are accessible? Solid advice is welcomed. Pictured is called Lightening trout caught at Prado Regional Park, Calif close to home.
Can you share where exactly in Bridgeport you fished please
Where did you go to in Bridgeport cuz I was there last week and that Bridgeport Reservoir water is all murky and very long low low
Try ball bearing swivel. Reduced line twists.
I also hook a red rubber worm on treble hook.
that looks delicious!
LOve fried fish.
Thank you, guys, great tips. I finally got 2 trout before closing time around 4pm. The trout swallowed both baits a half n=nightcrawler on tiny mosquito hooks and purple grape power bait on 18 treble. I cut the line on his mouth to remove hooks later when I clean him. 2 lb test leaders. One pole was tiny 18 inch ice fishing pole. hahaha! Dont need a 7 foot pole like they say!
What a trip i was the only one that caught anything. The grape had a 2 foot leader and the worm an 12 inch leader.
Both I soaked in garlic. I might return tomorrow. Oh I used drop shot rigging.

Reaching out to more experienced fishermen on catching stocked trout at San Bernardino's regional parks.
Guasti is overstocked so the trucks rerouted to Prado regional park along with the regular weekly stock. So with 799 lbs each truck it's almost 1600 lbs every Thursday. With so many fish, why are they so hard to catch?
Arrived at Guasti Regional Park this morning at 7:50 and no line out the gate. strange, 1st red flag.
Matter of fact I drove straight in to pay my gate fee.
After I unloaded and got my rods in the water i noticed very few people for 1st day of derby and 1598 lbs stocked yesterday. 2nd red flag.
Nobody was getting bites, much less catching any fish.
I walked along shore to rest room and noticed lots of dead trout along the shore and floating on the waters edge.
Big trout just belly up, some half eaten and others looked still kinda fresh. weird, and scary and smelly!
I checked the Facebook fishing pages and saw some fishermen left and got refunded their money.
After 2 hours I decided I had enough and packed up , went to gate and filled out form for refund.
Went to Prado and landed a good sized Lightning trout to ease my discomfort. LOL. No rain even though I was prepared with rain jacked and boots. As we say in the hiking world "there is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing." Cheers and tight lines.
Friday stock was 1550 lbs and from 1030 - 230 i went home with my limit.
People were busting on jigging so many trout it was stupid fishing!
Next day Saturday i returned and skunked, ugh!
Today trying Guasti...
never been to bass lake but here at gregory trout hit micetails. i got my 5 limit today by 1pm considering i arrived at 1015 am, lol
DFG page has all the county stocking schedule.
good luck fishing. you must be a newbie, because seasoned fishermen know this.
welcome!
Hahaha, it's always asking for a friend.
Nice, I'd like to see a picture of the noose setup
