Reaching out to more experienced fishermen on catching stocked trout at San Bernardino's regional parks.
Guasti is overstocked so the trucks rerouted to Prado regional park along with the regular weekly stock. So with 799 lbs each truck it's almost 1600 lbs every Thursday. With so many fish, why are they so hard to catch?
Try different baits, different lures, different locations, bottom fishing vs top with a bobber. Put in some time and I bet you figure it out!😉
I'm headed out to Santa Anna River Lake in Anaheim next week...haven't fished there in five years, and nowhere in 3 years (since being in a wheelchair the past 2 years).
You didn't mention what technique(s) you use...My "go-to" is Power Bait, but I always watch to see who is catching trout near me and just go ask them what is working for them...most anglers will oblige - some have even given me the type of hook or bait they were using! I've been studying using a "Drop Shot" rig for trout the past two weeks on YouTube...give that a try. Tight lines!😀

Thank you, guys, great tips. I finally got 2 trout before closing time around 4pm. The trout swallowed both baits a half n=nightcrawler on tiny mosquito hooks and purple grape power bait on 18 treble. I cut the line on his mouth to remove hooks later when I clean him. 2 lb test leaders.
What a trip i was the only one that caught anything. The grape had a 2 foot leader and the worm an 12 inch leader.
Both I soaked in garlic. I might return tomorrow. Oh I used drop shot rigging.

Garlic, what is the process for soaking them in garlic? Just curious in case I want to try it some day. Good job on being the only one not skunked!
Process:
- Go to tackle shop, Walmart, etc. and buy bait already infused with garlic or, buy garlic scented dips or drops, or sprays of garlic scent (I just purchased some Bang garlic spray from Walmart). 😀 Tight lines...
