Not likely that a prop change made your tachometer read the wrong RPM. Put your old prop on and check your RPM.
My guess is your new prop is a different pitch.

Love that blue water Grip.

We were over twenty miles offshore. It’s days like this that make fishing great and catching frosting on the cake.

Always fun to see a newbie catch their first fish. The young had never fished before.
We ate a whole raw filet for dinner. Amazing!

Catching was slow. While the seas were pretty calm, earlier stormy weather had created some unfavorable conditions. Nonetheless, we caught two smallish yellowfin tuna and a really nice sailfish (pez vela). Fishing here continues to be amazing.

When I put the 25 Merc on my aluminum boat, I bolted it on as well as the clamps on transom. There are 2-4 bolt holes on the outside edges of the bracket. Drill thru the transom, just calk the bolts thoroughly to keep water out of the transom, and use larger "fender"washers on the inside to spread the load. Use Stainless Steel hardware so it doesn't rust.

Agreed. That’s what I did with a Merc 9.5.

I’ll have basically the entire summer off, so I’m currently looking for a destination where I can explore, fly fish, and experience a culture other than my own. I’m not sure what the state of the world will be in June, so many countries may still be off limits, but throw them out there regardless! Would love to hear your experiences.

I agree with Spirit. Merrills are great. For sure those that do not let sand, gravel, or dirt in through the vents. Dor that matter, you might want to pair them up with some gaiters.

I'm a Penn guy. Have several both spinning and conventional. Take care of them and they will take care of you.

Well, we are finally in a friend’s home safe and warm. It is no ours but friends from our Bible Study class who called and offered their home for us to crash.

This is Monday and we had been without electricity from around midnight Saturday. Our temperature was 42 degrees this morning and had been that low since the storm hit. My wife is more sensitive to the cold, so we’ve been under covers, or shivvering for a long time On Sunday night we had a ton of covers on our bed.

Finally, we got a call from friends inviting us to come and stay with them until we got electirity home. Houston and surrounding area has a lot of the city without electricity. So there are long lines for automobiles trying to buy gasoline, or folks trying to buy breakfast. This morning the one place we finally found that was open, but a long line. When we finally are up to get served they were out of coffee!

I was supposed to get my second Covid-19 shot today, but it has ben called off due to the general shutdown due to the unusually hard winter freeze. Just Sayin…RJS
