Hey Guys, a few days ago I was fishing and my line broke but not at the end but rather closer to the rod tip because I left my fishing rod in a rock and the wind took the line in another rock and cut it when I reeled.so I made a uni to uni braided line knot.I was wondering if it will hold?I’m going fishing for tuna tomorrow with the same reel and you know how crazy those fish fight. Thanks

The double Uni is a very strong knot.

The fact that you are asking the question should answer your question

If in doubt , don’t do it

I have done the same thing, and it holds fine. The double uni for connecting lines is a great knot

I fish for stripers with 30# braid that has a uni to uni knot in it bout 25 yards out. It's held up for quiet a while and I've landed probly over 100 stripers with it like that. I have just reversed that line to where the knot is closer to the bottom of the line/spool. Not that I needed to, but now I can get longer cast without that knot having to go through the guides.

It will hold. If it doesn't and the fish of a lifetime gets off, you can blame it on me. Hey, I agree with Ben. If it were panfish you're going after, maybe. But tuna? Come on man.

I wouldn't take a chance with big ol' tuna.

I’m with Fly, those tuna look like torpedoes with a bad attitude.

Am t medium tuna should be no issue ! Hit it with a drop of Zap A Gap glue or some liquid gel that doesn’t bother lines . That will add slightly to knot strength and prevent abrasion !

A uni-knot to uni-knot used as a "bend" in mono works fine, for sure... Maybe you'd want to leave "plenty of tag-end"; and/or, pull the line off the reel and bury that rascal deep.

What I mean to say, is spool it back on the reel, starting at the other end.
