You are probably talking about buffalo gnats. First saw them in Illinois a couple of years ago and not on every lake.
It's strange. They are brutal and can take down a cow. Cutter's or Off doesn't work. The only thing that works on them is "Buggins". There are different color bottles but get the green and white labelled one. You have to reapply more than other sprays but it keeps them off you.

Why are we on the stage

I'm fairly new to this stage and have only been fishing in clubs for about three years. I appreciate responses that I've gotten - not responses to a woman but as a fellow fisherman. It isn't always easy being female and accepted. Whoever is saying negative things to you, well, that's on them. Shame on them.
