Thanks for all the wisdom. The wife told me that one more rod and I will be featured on the show horders. Been fishing a state park for Walleye. I don't know how they can take a minnow off a jig with a trailer hook, without any more than a slight bump. But they do. Color doesn't matter, except for the amount of bites. Don't seem to like worms or leaches. Maybe scent????

Thanks for the info, I am laughing and learning at the same time. I have the urge to come up with something that will work. At 66 years young, I am wanting to get back to being a serious Fisher. Year's of G-kids fishing, tackle tangling, fish removal, hook removal all while driving the trolling pattern has altered my fishing. Here I go. Dan

I love to smoke anything, I have an electric smoker and a wood smoker. I am 66 years young and have smoked since I was a teenager. Share any recipes? I wish I could taste a bite, but I would most likely get carried away. To all smokers out there. Keep a Rocking. God bless Dan'L

I am trying to find an oil or something to mix with flavoring to disguise my scent on any lure or plastic. I know what flavors fish usually go for, but what to mix flavors with? Any ideas, please post. God Bless Dan

I must say you really sound like a good person. Now I really want to live with you, but I am pretty sure we would both be divorced by the time we were done fishing.

Thanks, never used garlic, but have tried several jigs. I think that open water below the damns are inviting. However if I do go back on the ice? I am heading for some garlic.

Recently purchased a fish camera, in Northern Illinois the ice is about 10". My 15 almost 16 year old grandson and I have drilled enough holes to weaken the ice. Love the camera, it beets any fish finder or flasher out there, at least for ice fishing. I have watched bluegills in the 3-4" range for hours. Crappie in 6-9" range and walleye. Had a northern come up to the eye of the camera and actually mouth it, backed off and gave it a weird look. One Bass that attacked the camera, huge. But all we can catch is little gills. I carried more tackle than the space shuttle. Tried tip ups, everything but minnows. On one tree where we have seen several crappie, we found minnows frozen in the ice, although I live on a private lake where you cannot use minnows. Can't say I haven't had that thought. But no. I give up. Dan N Illinois.

Number one, Trilene line always breaks when you least expect it. I didn't watch the video, but I know my fishing line.

I have accumulated a good amount of gear threw my 65 years of fishing and hunting. I have decided to dive into the piles of piles that have been stored through out my journey. As I decide what stays and goes, I remember so many different ways and so many types of fish. Will I ever use this again? I have a group near me that teach's kids how to fish, I plan on donating gear to help their efforts. As I wonder what method those kids might use, I also think "what is the best way to start fishing". Putting aside maintenance of rod, reel and line, I believe that a hook, bobber, sinker and propped weight, would be the greatest way for anyone to get started. With the proper set up, I believe you can catch any fish desired. Considering what is available in the area for that fish to feed on in what time of year, has netted more fish for me than most methods. Even the beast of that area. Reading Spoon Plugging by Buck Perry should be a must do. I know that getting new people in the great outdoors is the only way to preserve what I have loved. Teach gun safety and welcome New comers to the outdoors. Cherish the moments that you have in the rivers, lakes and streams. Never kill just to kill, use any thing you secure and love what you do. Coming from a Marine, father, grandfather and husband who has spent his life outside in an active lifestyle. God Bless Dan

Amen, life is good. Love the outdoors, hunting, fishing and seeing what our father has made. I really do hope there is the great outdoors in heaven. I really want to ask the reason for mosquitoes. Dan

Sure is a lot of post about this. I am not familiar with that exact reel, but have cleaned my fair share of reels. A career mechanic that did a good job on my own reels, everyone else wanted me to clean theirs. Start with taking a picture of everything you take apart. Be careful when you separate pieces not to drop anything. Lay it flat on the table. Make sure of the shims behind the gears and so forth, sometimes you have to use your finger to rub and find the shims behind the gears. Do not by any means use alcohol to soak the body of the reel in. Good luck. Dan
