I went about a month ago, bank fishing for bass, caught several including a 3 pounder. Used a ratL trap and skirted chatterbaits in every color, pearl and purple/black worked best for me.
Only got one catfish this weekend, fishing for three days straight for five hours starting at sunset, but man did it pay off. Got a beautiful 13 pounder, healthy and fought so damn hard.
Wish I had gotten a video of it, but my German shorthair pointer always tells me where to cast, and it hasn’t failed yet. Today, we walked a long portion of lake Herman in Vallejo, we got to the end of the rock wall, which is a popular fishing spot, and finally she pointed at the long vegetation in the water. I casted out my ratL trap 3 times in that area, only to pick up a lot of vegetation on the hooks, then on the fourth cast, the dog still pointing, I thought I had gotten snagged finally. Thankfully it was a little largemouth, with that my dog helped me break my lake Herman skunk streak.
Dan foley or lake Herman?
Sturgeon by far. Hard to catch especially without a boat and best tasting meat I’ve ever caught.

Alright buddy. Congrats.
Only problem with that is your fishin for stripers is over for the day.
In one way it's a blessing. Another way it's a curse. I prefer to keep fishin so we always release them after the first one is on the stringer. We just hope we catch another keeper close to the time we WANT to quit.
I was so excited I didn’t even think about that! Haha I need to find my stringer for next time.
Flying c’s and sp minnows, if they don’t work rat- L traps always do

I’m not going to bet my a$$ but I think he’s up river from the Napa. And looking at the bridge in his photo I’m thinking he’s on the north side of the Carquinez strait…🐟on
This should help out, I honestly never heard it referred to as Elliot cove but that’s what it’s called!

Looks like the Carquinez bridge in the background so I would say thats probably Richmond. Used to fish the old whalers wharf which is likely no longer there. Good fishing for striper and flounder behind the Albany racetrack too.
Close, I’m in Vallejo. The place I go to is called glen cove marina, east of the carquinez bridge. It’s always been a nice little striper hole and even when it’s crowded there’s still plenty of room
I do trust daiwa. I use their lures every time I go out, especially sp minnows, the quality of all of their products surpasses most.

Are they all stocked STRIPERS? What is the limit on size and number.
Not stocked, in the san Fransisco bay, for us here it’s two possession limit, minimum 18”.
First time ever getting a limit within 15 minutes. Done it before with bait over the course of a few hours, but never like this. Used 5inch Daiwa sp minnow in purple, right before sunrise near the boat entrance. First time seeing the boils in the water, went chasing them, got the first one on the third cast, 22 inches, dispatched him then saw more boils. Got my second one, 21 inches in about five casts. Never been so lucky fishing before.
It took about 5 trips for my German shorthaired pointer to get used to fishing and to control herself around my bait and all that, now at only 3 months old she sits next to me while I bait my hooks, sits calmly while I cast my lures, and even retrieves my small stripers for me without harming them. Most keepers are still too big for her to carry.
Glen cove in Vallejo. I fish at the boat entrance east of the carquinez bridge a couple hundred yards. It’s a nice little striper spot, just a lot of rocks and if you’re not careful lots of snags.
Glen cove marina, Saturday sunset. I set up a Carolina rig, half ounce egg, with a swim bait, first time ever using this set up. I get my dog to sit next to me, and do my first cast, then it happened, my first fish ever on a first cast! And he’s a keeper, 18.5 inches! Sorry for the terrible picture but I had my pointer with me and she’s a handful when she sees a fish. First pic is from Saturday, the rest are small shakers caught last week.
