I use gulp alive emerald shiners and have had good results on perch, crappies, sunfish and occasionally smallmouth bass.

I've caught lots of crappies but none as pretty as that one.

Check out porta botes. They come in several sizes from about 8 ft. to 15 ft. Handy for storage. The down side is that they are quite expensive.

I use Shimano reels exclusively but they are both excellent brands. You can't got wrong with either one.

I have two St. Croix two piece rods. I love them because they are a pleasure to use and they are easy to break down and carry in my Subaru Forester when going on vacation.

I most often use "Liquid Mayhem" garlic scent. I've had a lot of luck with it but I always wonder if it really makes a difference or I'm just lucky that day.

Perch love night crawlers. The only problem is so do sunfish.

Has anybody fished Greenwood Lake on the NY/NJ border? What was your experience? Any decent catches?

I have a two piece St. Croix Avid spinning rod. I find it easier to take with me on vacation when I need to load a lot of stuff into the back of my Subaru. Works as well as any one piece rod I have.

About 2 years ago I purchased a 12 volt lithium ion battery for my 36 lb. thrust trolling engine. The pros are that
it is incredibly light maybe 8-10 lbs. It charges rapidly. The cons are it was very expensive- about 300 dollars and I'm not sure it charges as completely according to the meter on the engine. I think that it discharges faster than my old heavy traditional battery. For short fishing trips it is great.

You might want to consider a small portabote. I think the smallest one is about 8-9 feet long. Folds up nicely. I have a 10'6". Usually takes two of us to handle it well.

A while back someone on here was singing the praises of this Shimano reel saying it was the best reel you could buy for the money. I'm wondering if that person, not sure who it was, is still as enthused with it as when he first bought it? I'm thinking of buying myself one as a retirement gift. Anyone?

Over the years, I have used Shimano spinning reels almost exclusively. In the last several years, I have purchased two Shimano stradic reels and am very happy with them. I highly recommend them.
