OBG,

I saw the same thing a Skinner earlier in the week! Closer look showed they were Trout, and looked like they were trying to spawn…

Welcome to the Stage Salmon King. Looks like you’re in the HB area. You may have success fishing around Bolsa Chica. With your COPD, there are parking areas for easy beach access. Pier fishing leaves much to be desired, but good for getting out to wet a line. Best Wishes.

Papa, I read the title and tried to help a fellow Stager out with an answer/suggestion to his question about losing hoop nets. In my experience, a weighted net, with enough line attached will usually keep the net from drifting out into deeper water, thus causing one to lose the hoop net. Have a good day.

Are you using Rigid or Collapsible nets? Agree with previous suggestions about not enough line on your nets for area or conditions. You may also consider attaching a weight to the bottom of your nets (5 lb - 10 lb gym weights). May seem like overkill, but it’ll guarantee your net stays in contact with the bottom, and keep the Seadogs from dragging it away. Good Luck!

Nick, welcome to the stage… You can catch Stripers, Largemouth Bass and Catfish at Lake Skinner. Not sure what species you’re after. Here is a link that may help you.

OBG,
Sorry to hear what happened at Perris.
I was turned away a couple of weeks ago as well. I’ve attached a pic of what they’re looking for. Hopefully this info will help prevent others from having a similar problem.
Tight Lines!

Just got back from 3 days of fishing Pyramid Lake, NV. For those of you who haven’t heard of Pyramid, it’s home to the Lohontan Cutthroat Trout (one of the largest trout in the world). The current World record is 41 lbs! While I didn’t catch one quite that big, I did catch my PB of 11.5 lbs, and most were in the 7 - 8 lb range. While most fish are caught Flyfishing (from a ladder), they can also be caught from shore with spinning gear, or trolling from a boat. Whatever your choice, I highly recommend Lake Pyramid for a chance to catch the Trout of a lifetime.

Unfortunately they charge for most everything here in So Cal. Lake Arrowhead is a very good Lake, but private…

Hopefully this will help you with some spots to try your hand and stocker trout.

First time posting on forum... Really like the info and content here!
My niece is moving to Texas, and asked me to take her fishing. Went to Lake Perris and put her on her First Bass. Couldn't get her to kiss her First Bass. Had a Great Day!
