Absolutely! I routinely toss larger bass. There is a reason God created Bluegill&catfish.

Now that's what I call "luxury styled" ice fishing! What an awesome set up!

I would pay extra NOT to do that! Some years back my wife and I were some where in Colorado and saw some people ice fishing. As this is relatively rare in the Deep South, we decided to go take a look. My wife said she heard a soft thump, followed by a bit of colorful language, but I had disappeared. Turns out I had stepped into a hole of some sort, perhaps an uprooted tree, which had filled with soft snow.

I got mine at about that same age. Use to shoot the figs off the tree. Now that was at a close up range Robert.

When I was a kid I used mint to keep birds from eating the figs. My mother made wonderful fig preserves.

Semper Fi! I too am a (long ago ) USMC combat veteran, and an even longer ago graduate of thr University of Alabama. Roll Tide!
I fear that my time in Tuscaloosa was so long ago that I will be of no help with current fishing spots. I recall fly fishing a large private pay per day lake that produced large Bluegill, but that was in the early Bear Bryant era.
Semper fi and Roll Tide!

I made a couple of trips to the Casper area a few years back, primarily for Mule deer and Pronghorn, but did a bit of trout fishing as well. Beautiful country, great people.

I am a racing fan, Primarily F-1, but generally any form of road racing, also motorcycle racing. At 79 I am a bit long in the tooth now but in years past I raced motorcycles a bit (flat track, moto-cross). Still ride my old Harley a bit.

Great catch! Sometimes high tech tackle just gets in the way. Not to mention drunks.

Back in the day(Way back) I was a Marine Corps Platoon Leader in Vietnam. At the time I was wounded the second time and evacuated to the US and medical retirement my Company Comander (my third) was a young Capitan. After he rotated back to the states he decided that for his next war he would fly over it rather thawalk through it. He became a Marine Corps Aviator, first flying F4$, then F-18s. He served as a Squadron Leader I the first Gulf War. He retired as a Lt. Col. and went to work for Boeing as a project manager for the Space Station program and moved to Houston.
The point of this whole rambling and boring story is that my previous Company Comander also lived in Houston
And the three of us had a reunion at a couple of shuttle launches at Cape Kennedy .As I was born in Dallas, the whole thing revolves around Texas and NASA.
Whew!

Hi, Kathy. I have not been to Upstate NY for many years, but when I went frequently I realy enjoyed the area and the people. The country side reminded me a great deal of parts of North Georgia.
Good Luck!

I own, and live upon property in Alabama which includes 5 impoundments ranging from about 1.5 to twelve acres. As far as I know I am legalaly entitled to do any thing from restocking them to draining them.
Most recently I had a fish pond outfit electroshock the largest pond and analyze the population. Ultimately I added some thousands of copper Nosed bluegill, a jillion or so threadfin shad and a few Chinese Carp (for weed control) Also added was a small mountain of lime to adjust thr PH.
No Fish and Game authourities were involved. That pond is around 70 years old.
