I don't think the type of scent is a big deal to the fish one of the first fish sent on the market was Anise oil and it smells nothing like fish food. I remember back in the late 70s and early 80s when there was a fish attractant on the market that had the smell of a black licorice kind smell and it worked good. If you go to the bait shop you will find all different kinds of fish sent for sale and all of it work but more so in the fishermen's brain.

That was the Fish Formula brand. The original flavor. They later came out with crawfish, minnow and nightcrawler flavors.

Alright folks, I’m about to go on a big shopping spree for lures, and wanted to see what you guys swear by and maybe try out some new lures. I fish freshwater, Bass, Northern, crappie, and ‘gills. Tight lines!

My uncle used a sharpening steel with one leg of a 110 volt AC wire soldered to it, stick it in the ground for night crawlers in the daytime. Worked great. J. Bruce

Do any of you remember when the outdoor magazines used to advertise the electric rods in the ground device years ago? I believe they had to stop selling them because of people being electrocuted.

It is a 308 necked down. I don't remember all the technical stuff but is a great round. A baby too.I believe it was born in 1980.

Why does talk about hunting and shooting need to be in the attic? Isn't that what the chit-chat section is for?

What does not make sense is that he chided his friend because of catch and release. If the fish could talk don't you think it would gladly pick that over a fillet knife and hot oil?

[quote=FS Digest]I just had in interesting debate with a friend who accused me of torturing fish for my own entertainment and engaging in a morally questionable sport when he saw a photo of a fish that I released. I realize the debate about C&R has been going on for a while, but I'm curious to hear other fly fishers' perspective on the subject

Has your"friend" ever read the bible? Has your "friend" ever heard of Jesus Christ? He recruited fishermen to be his disciples. Jesus told them where to cast the nets to catch a boat load of fish. Don't waste your time arguing with your friend just give him a bible!

Its things like this that remind me why fishing hooks have a warning label saying sharp objects.

Also why Berkley power bait has a "not for human consumption" warning on the label.
